I was wondering. If you get a wedding cake order. It's been payed for. On delivery day, something happens and the cake is ruined beyond repair(car accident whatever it may be). What sort of refund do you give, if any?

Are you wondering for wondering's sake, or did this happen to you? Because if you are waiting for the most popular opinion to base your decision on.......

So sorry this happened, and I would refund the entire amount. And scramble for new cake from anywhere I could. An expensive mistake, and not at all intentional, but 100% unfortunate.

Oh yeah...100% refund definitly. It is unfortunate that this would put a person out of all the money it took to make the cake but the customer did not recieve a cake at all and there is no reason to keep a penny of that money. Unless they picked up the cake and ruined it then no refund. I would help they find a cake quickly though personally.

Hope it didn't happen and it doesn't happen.

I address this in my contract. If I'm in an accident and their cake is destroyed, then (if I am able) I go to the nearest place to get cake, buy them something to serve and they get a full refund.

Ruined beyond repair? 100% refund and I'd be going to every bakery in town to buy new cake.......at my expense of course.

I really really hope this never happens to any of us.................

In my contract I stipulate 100% refund of the CAKE ONLY. That under no circumstances am I liable for anything over and above what has been paid me. So, keep your 'pain and suffering' to yourself. icon_wink.gif

Thanks everyone. And no this didn't happen to me. I did give a wedding cake as a gift a few weeks ago. Along the way I thought about "What if....". The cake arrived all in one piece(thank goodness!). But I did scared myself silly.
