HI!! I am going to attempt to make a cake similar to Brittney Spears circus cake in August. I am going to use 3 rounds for the base, the wilton ball pan for the ball and 2-4x4 square for the top hat. my problem is... I dont know how to keep the top hat on top of the ball. I am attaching a picture. I am fairly new and have never made a topsy turvey cake before so I really have no clue what the HECK to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! sorry the picture is not the greatest but this is all they gave me. and the top hat is on the circus ball it is kinds of to the side of the ball. Do I need to make some kind of structure for this and if so how??

Good news is, that is not a topsy turvy cake. So, you can relax about that part. Looks like the base is a graduated stack of rounds, carved to the tapered finish you see. Panels of individual fondant applied to look like a basket, or whatever that is. A sheet of fondant draped loosely to look like a swath of fabric, with little danglies attached.

I'm assuming you are scaling this wayyyyyy down? I would imagine the largest round on that cake in the pic is at least 20 inches.

Top hat.....mold out thin gumpaste, and attach slightly skewed off balance with some royal icing, or gently set it on once you deliver the cake.
