Can you guys share your buttercream recipes? I've tried about 3 and I simply hated the taste. I love whipped cream on my cakes but unfortunately, you really can't do much decorating with whipped cream. I would LOVE to find a buttercream recipe that tastes a little more like whipped cream. Will I ever find a recipe that I like? I will never be able to practice on my decorating if I continue working with whipped cream icon_sad.gif Thanks a bunch!

Thanks,
Mary

Well Mary, the icing that I find tastes the closest to whipped cream, would be the Whimsical Bakehouse Buttercream, I beleive the recipes is posted here on a thread. Other than that, some folks like the Wilton Whipped Icing Mix that comes in a box. I think you will find it difficult to come up with an icing that is similar to whipped cream that you can actually decorate with.

I'll search for the Whimsical Bakeshouse recipe and give it a try. I tried the Wilton Whipped Icing this weekend and it does melt pretty fast. The cake turned out OK but I'm wondering how much of a difference buttercream will make.

Pinkbunny - can you share the italian meringue recipe?
