I guess the gist of this is - you can't please everyone! I say post/don't post what you want - if someone needs help they can PM, which is more personal anyway and you may be able to relay details you couldn't have in the description. Don't get mad everybody! Have fun and enjoy this site with all the great pics! How blessed we are to have a place like this to go!

I do enjoy looking at pictures that have descriptions more than ones that don't have descriptions. Does this mean that Cake Central should make them mandatory for my enjoyment? Nope.

I do not agree that this is just a site for amatuers. A whole lot of professionals post here, and I am very excited and pleased that they do so! Hopefully, these professionals are very busy people... So maybe they do not have time to write the detailed description that I would prefer. Or maybe they do not want to let their "trade secrets" out of the bag. (Or maybe, as others point out, there is a language barrier.)

I certainly hope everyone continues to post their cake pictures -- with or without descriptions -- because I'd be very sad if they didn't!

Personally, I like either way. If I have a question, I will do a PM. I get an answer about 95% of the time, which is great. But when I don't get an answer, I just try to figure it out on my own. It is just cake, like everyone says. I have also had the problem with the pics not uploading after you type a million times. Either way, I am happy just to try to make the cake. I think it is cool when a description is there, because every once in awhile there is a new technique I might not have tried. But if not, I just work it out the best I can. I think everyone is mostly nice around here and more than willing to give advice when asked. Don't take it personally when there is just a pic. Just enjoy the art for what it is. I mean you can't ask Picasso how he did what he did when you see his painting in a museum, right???

I agree about posting on topics that have been discussed over and over too - but today, I'm trying to find info on buying an airbrush machine. My search is coming up with over 7000 forum posts, but every time I click on them, I "No topics or posts met your search criteria" Anyone else having this problem? TIA

Amymnn...........in all the months I've been here I think I've had success with the search feature maybe 3 times. So don't feel bad it happens to me all the time.

That probably accounts for 50% of the duplicate posts on here, people just can't find what they're looking for.

I've stopped uploading pictures for these reasons too. People have asked me questions under my photos and I PM them with answers. Sometimes I don't see a comment if the site is hiccupping and I don't get a notice, but I try to do it for everyone I do see. People get mad when you don't put enough info... or when you put too much info... it's sickening to me. Some people don't have time to put a huge description... some don't want to... some don't want to go into detail about how to make the cake they worked so hard to figure out... some people can't write in English... some try to put everything... it all offends someone, so I say screw it. I haven't up loaded a picture in a while and I don't think I will ever again and it makes me want to just delete my images, but you can't if you have more than 5 saves without asking a moderator and they don't get back to you if you send a message (not lately anyway). And actually if you read the fine print, when you upload images here they technicaly have power over them... which doesn't sit well with me.

When i was preparing to do my 2nd wedding cake, I was interested in the pan sizes used, so I could see how the cakes looked once stacked. Especially for the offset cakes. I would feel slightly frustrated if I saw one that looked really nice, but no pan sizes were indicated. Flavor is not as important, IMO, as structural information.

As far as pan sizes go you need to use the sizes that will yield the # of servings you need. The sizes someone else used may be too small or too large for the servings you need.

FromScratch- I am so sad to hear that you no longer want to upload any more of your photos and delete the ones you have. I think your work is inspirational and I even have a few of your photos in my favorites.

It's been awhile, but Facebook has a policy (new or not, not sure, maybe it just got media coverage) that once you delete your account, your pictures, your posts, everything stays. So comments you made on someone's page don't go away, and pictures linked to, etc., they don't go away either. Something to that effect. I'm sure someone else knows the specifics.

FB changed that policy... it basically read that once you put your stuff (images, posts, what have you) on FB it became their domain. There was a HUGE uproar and lots of people left, but FB ended up changing their policy so it's a non-issue now.

I'll probably get my account booted someday too but oh well... too many threads disappearing whever something isn't 100% pro CC's policies... people complaining that people who come here without compensation don't do enough for them... or complaining that people do too much... whiney BS.

To the OP: If what the decorator/photo poster wants is to simply upload a few photos without descriptions... why is what YOU want (the descriptions) more important than what she/he wants? My life is not to make everyone else happy at the expense of my own happiness.

It's threads like these that keep people from posting their pics at all.

BTW, on my other account, I had several photos that were saved by hundreds of people as favorites... but I sent one e-mail to Heath and *poof* they were all gone within 24 hours. It's not that hard to get your photos deleted if that's what you really want to do.

Did you use the contact form or PM him directly? I've had no luck with the contact form the last 3 times I've used it... no response at all.

The site is having issues... to avoid the triplicate posts I've been stopping the page load after a few seconds. It's annoying, but it works.

Yes, click submit, count for about 6 seconds, and stop the page. Let's see if it actually works again.

People are going to do what works for them.

That's the thing K2... no one is going tomake everyone happy... there's no way. I have given up.
