i was just wondering... do most of you buy your fondant already colored or do you do it yourself? i understand coloring your own fondant for smaller projects (like just accents or single tiers) or for really specific/unique colors, but for larger amounts, do you prefer to buy it, or just do it yourself?

depends how im feeling! if i want to spend the extra money, il buy it. if i have the time and energy, il do it my self! and the darker colours are easier to buy.

i make my own so i colour it myself and if i do occasionally buy it the one i like only comes in white so i have to colour it myself again BUT if there was another fondant that tasted good i could buy and it was coloured perfectly the way i needed it i would just buy it coloured icon_biggrin.gif lol

For me, it depends on the color I need and if I have time to make it. I NEVER buy white fondant but I NEVER make black fondant. I also usually buy the red. If I was making more money doing this and I had multiple orders of different colors, I would probably purchase.

I buy Satin Ice in every color that it comes in and I use those colors to blend together to create custom colors... I love not having to mess with gels and pastes and endless kneading trying to get the right shade. I blend ALL of my colors by combining the precolored fondant.

I make my own fondant. I mix color during mixing and after, depending on the project. It is time consuming. So it you don't have a lot of time, buying it would be an option.
