Or mojo or whatever you call it...

Last weekend I tried to make my DD bday cake but it just wouldn't come out. It came down to "leave well enough alone". The kids at it and seemed happy so I had pretty much let it go, as well as I can anyway.

Then I had one small cake for today that won't come together either. It's not bad and actually is what the client asked for, I'm just not "feeling" it for some reason. I had to walk away before I really messed it up, I already dinged it once.

I don't know what's wrong with me, I am just feeling kind of poo-ey about it all right now. Do you ever have days like this? It almost makes me not want to do cakes for a little while to see if I can rejuvenate but I'm booked for the rest of the month so gotta suck it up.

Again, I'm just rambling mostly, thought maybe someone here may understand, my husband doesn't. I guess it could be PMS, let me find my calendar and do some counting... icon_rolleyes.gif

Really, we all feel this way at one time or another.... I tend to feel a little burn out in the fall. Try to look up some new techniques...something to get that fire restarted in your belly icon_smile.gif

You know what really gets us in a funk...when we get someone who doesn't seem to be real happy with what we've made for them. A lady picked up a graduation cake last week (the black/white cake with the Texas Tech logo) and she was like, "oh yeah, it's nice..." That's just not the kind of reaction we like...come on we just worked our butts off for 6 hours slaving over every single detail of this cake...can we get more than a "yeah it's nice"???? That makes us want to stop making cakes for people we don't know...I'd rather do them for friends and family who we know will appreciate the effort we put into a cake. We have a charity event next Friday and we're making 500 cupcakes for it so we'd better get out of the funk and get ready to cupcake! I think it hits everyone at one time or another. Maybe a few weeks off when you can clear some time will do you good!

I know exactly how you feel. I am feeling the same as you. I am going to get out of the decorating business, for some reason I have lost what it takes to decorate. But just take a few days off and you will feel different.
Take care.

Thank you all for replying to me! I am beginning to wonder if I have what it takes for this too. I love decorating so hopefully it will pass. It's good to know that many of you have been through this. Thank you! icon_smile.gif

Honestly, I've had the same feeling on all the cakes I've made... but in the end, I ended up atleast happy.

Sometimes it doesn't work out.... we will just have to be creative and think of a different plan. Don't give up, if it doesn't work out go until you reach plan Z.

Go outside, take a deep breath and relax. It will get better, believe me.

I know what you mean...... I worked my buns off doing cakes to feed 300 for my brother-in-law's 80th birthday ( I donated my time.... they paid for supplies ) A couple of nice comments from the family, but on the whole, not much reaction..... I think they are to the point of " Oh, Vicki will do the cakes, and practically for nothing..." The guests seemed to LOVE them, but I think the family is taking me for granted....... I don't expect them to do a HAPPY DANCE or anything, but at least act ( even if they have to ACT) pleased....... you know what I mean ? I went through his entire life..... one cake to thank him for his military service, one to represent his service to his church, one from the kids, and a HUGE family tree cake.......... " Oh, that's nice.... thanks"........ sighhhhhh......... I guess I'm just nit-picking....... AND I just hijacked your thread...... sorry icon_redface.gif But I DO know what you mean.....
