A need some cake ideas for as the client says:
The theme is absurdly long "The Last Year to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the 70s" and something about peace, love and happiness.
It is her 30th birthday and they are doing a 70s costume party.
They are only looking to serve 30 people.
Here are a couple cakes here on CC that I found that I like but want to try to come up with some other options.

maybe different colors of fondant marbelized together to create a tie dye effect, topped with a 3-D RKT hand flashing the peace sign?
what about a tye dyed peace sign that actually covers the top of the cake
Being born in the very early 60's, I remember the 70's well. Tie dye would be more 60's. If you want 70's, think more along these lines: Bellbottom pants, gigantic platform shoes, disco balls, Bastad clogs, cowboy boots, hot pants, lava lamps, people streaking naked through the streets (that was hysterical!), mood rings, pet rocks, G.I. Joe with the kung fu grip (hehe), the magic 8 ball, the PlayBoy clubs, etc.

I don't mean to steal your thunder here, but I too and planning a 70's cake, but I have time to think it out. My biggest problem is everything I come up with seems to look like its for a girl. That's how I feel anyways. I'm trying to come up with a more masculine looking cake....
Well I know for sure that men also wore those ridiculous platform shoes, sometimes even covered with silver glitter. Yeah, it WAS ridiculous! They wore their shirts open and exposed their puny chests and wore gold chains a lot. Hee hee. They had long hair. Like girls, they always had that big old "Goody" comb sticking out of their back pockets. And they wore bellbottoms too! And Pro Keds. There were sideburns. Hee.
When I think of '70s color schemes, I come up with the burnt orange/harvest gold/avocado/brown combo, or maybe white/tan/brown/orange. I remember red/white/blue being popular, especially around the Bicentennial. hth
ooh, inspiration just hit me! Maybe do a patchwork of different shades of denim, some with frayed edges, some with nailhead/rhinestone trim or rainbow stitching, and make the borders look like the pattern on a tube sock. Cover the cakeboard with some cheesy, shiny polyester. Fun stuff!

You should do a hairy chested torso in a butterfly collar with a big chain/medallion. Or platform boots and a lava lamp.
