I have a grooms cake to make and we want to have Tuxedo Strawberries around the bottom of the cake. I want clean neat lines and I am having some trouble. If you have any suggestions please send them my way!

Thanks

I was looking for the same thing earlier today. I don't know the answer, but here's a bump, and hopefully someone else can help us!

I just uploaded a cake a few minutes ago with these.

What I did was to dip the strawberries in white chocolate first and let them harden. Then they were dipped in the dark chocolate at 45 degree angles to for the V-shaped lapels on the front of the tux.
To make the bowtie and buttons, I just dipped a toothpick in the dark chocolate and "painted" them on each one.

hope that helps a bit!

I work a lot of banquets that serve these, and at close inspection I have figured out how they are done, seems easy. Dip the strawberry straight down into white choc. to make the tux "shirt". After drying, dip the berries diagonally one way, then the other to form lapels of tux suit. The bow tie and shirt buttons are later piped on using a small round tip. HTH!

I've only done them once, so I may not be much of a help to you.....Anyway, they were super easy to me. I just dipped all of them into the white chocolate and let them dry, then dipped them at an angle into the colored chocolate. Then, I put some more colored candy melts in a pipng bag and melted them in the microwave. That way you can pipe on the bow tie and buttons.

Good Luck!

I have not made these personally but my sister has and she is great at it.

This is what she does:

Dip entire strawberry into white chocolate covering completely. Let them set up and dry on wire rack.

then in bowl with melted chocolate she dips them in on an angle one side at a time letting the side dipped set up somewhat to avoid drips or run off.

by dipping them in on angle this will create the V effect of the tuxedo while still revealing the white chocolate underneath for the shirt. Hope this makes sense so far...then she uses a paint brush to paint on the buttons and bow tie.

Hi I love making these!!
First wash your straberries and pat dry.. they must be dry.. Melt your white chocolate and dip the front of the strawberry in the white.. put on cookie sheet and place in freezer for aprox 2-3 min's bring out and let sit then melt your dark chocolate dip one side then the other.. leaving a white "V" back in the freezer for a few min's.. then I use a small piping bag and clip the end for a small hole (very small) and make a tie and buttons.. Back in freezer for a few min's.. Only a few min in freezer and cant say it enought make sure your strawberries are DRY. HOPE THIS HELPS.. I will try to attach a pic of a grooms cake I made for my new son in law.. keep in minde the chocolate should be good in heat if it is not in direct sunlight and no one touches it on my cake it was 103 degrees that day (wedding was in the evening.. aprox 96 degrees by then.. but they held up great!

ok so i have made so meny of these at my job i cant even tell you...... (catering hall) ...... but what i do to make them really nice find the flat side this is your "back" dip your front side all the way to the top in white choco run the straw against the edge of the bowl to get exess of the back so it doesnt look messy chill now dip the sides at an angle make sure they meet at the bottom of the strawberry chill again ( make sure you melt enough brown choco so that you can dip it as deep as needed without moving it around for cleaner lines) then pipe a squared number 8 for a bow tie and the buttons dont try to fit alot maybe just 3buttons good luck
