all those recipes look good, morecakePlz!
I was thinking if we could limit the number of submissions this time around? Maybe 2 per person and have a deadline for submission of recipes.
Should we start a new thread just for the chocolate cake scratch off, like we did for the yellow cake? Then we can keep this thread as a sort of headquarters where we discuss what's next and maybe keep here a running list of the winners/favorites in each category? That way the best of the best will be easy for folks to find, or be referred to. This thread could also link out to all the individual contest threads in case folks are interested in the detailed ratings and results chatter.
Maybe we could make this thread sticky in the Recipe forum. Then the first post in this thread could be made editable so we could periodically add links to the individual contest threads and their winners without having to comb through this thread or others to find the basic links, etc.

This is my favorite chocolate cake. My brother-in-law says he will have this cake with chocolate ganache every year for his birthday, until one of us dies......and thank you very much. It's from Hershey's.....
Black Magic Cake
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk*
1 cup strong black coffee OR 2 teaspoons powdered instant coffee plus 1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans or one 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
2. Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, buttermilk, coffee, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes (batter will be thin). Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes for round pans, 35 to 40 minutes for rectangular pan or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. Frost as desired. Yields 10 to 12 servings.
* To sour milk: Use 1 tablespoon white vinegar plus milk to equal 1 cup.

Ha Ha.....looks like "Wicked Wanda" took the Hershey's Black Magic Cake, removed 1.3 oz of oil, and put her name on it. That's very wicked, Wanda.
Just kidding.....but look they are word-for-word the same, even in the same ingredient order, except for the 1.3 oz less oil.
.....and the "Deep Dark Chocolate Cake" from the recipezaar link is also the Hershey's Black Magic Cake. This time there are no changes.......
LIta829....the link you posted is dead??? I get a "this does not exist" message every time.
Yeah...it does seem to have disappeared. Sorry about that....I don't know what happened but here is the recipe for the chocolate Cake that I use. Its a pretty good recipe that I got off the Softasilk Cake Flour box.
Deluxe Chocolate Cake
2 C sugar
1 C butter
3/4 tsp almond extract
2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
2 1/2 C cake flour, sifted
1 C cocoa powder ( I use Hershey's Special Dark)
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/4 C buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in extracts and combine. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add combined dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, in 4 additions, beginning and ending with the dry. Beat at medium speed for a minute longer. Bake 9" layers 45-50 min and cuppies 26-30 min.

it is also similar to Ina Garten's Betty something chocolate cake.
I've created a new thread for the Chocolate cake scratch-off.

I copied and pasted Lita829's excellent opening post from the yellow cake scratch-off, with a few minor changes/additions. I'll be happy to coordinate the chocolate episode of the scratch-off. But I'm by no means 'in charge'...this is OUR contest, so feel free suggest changes/improvements as we go along.
Ladies and gentlemen, start your beaters!
I'd like to submit
Sylvia Weinstock's Chocolate Fudge Cake and
Whimsical Bake House Chocolate Butter Cake
I'll get the recipes on here in a little while.
