My homemade stand is similar to the others. Plywood base with draw pulls for feet. Each tier is made from cardboard rounds separated by small diameter PVC pipe covered with white contact paper (as a disguise). I change the ribbon to suit the occasion.

Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I'll be making one later on in the year for a wedding.

Here is my attempt. I used foam core board, styrafoam, ribbon, and hot glue.

What exactly is foam core board, and where would I find it?? Does it come in rounds or must it be cut?

I buy foam core at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. It comes in large sheets and does have to be cut. I use it for cakeboard with my tiered cakes because it is much stronger than cardboard.

I made this one for my dd's communion.

cake drums - bottom one covered in white contact paper, ribbon glued on the side, styrofoam circle separating/supporting the tier covered in wide pink ribbon. This ended up being a onetime use. Now I want to try one of the many ideas I've seen posted today!

I used Sheet cake boards, covered in a plastic table cloth (got at the dollar store) and the client bought the wine glasses.

All of the cupcake stands are so nice! I feel inspired to make one myself. Is the foam core board with the painting supplies at Michael's? It's definitely not in the cake section. icon_smile.gif

The foamcore is on the same isle as the wrapping paper/gift bag supplies in my Michaels. They also have some on the end cap of the paint isle. It comes in lots of colors, but the white is the cheapest. You can usually get it on sale for $0.99 a sheet. Just ask a sales associate if you can't find it, they will know what you are talking about. Good luck!!

All these stands are sooo cute! My mind is going crazy trying to figure out which one to make for myself. Whats the easiest way to cut the foam core board?
