I just got a call from a bride looking for a carved Musky cake for a Groom's cake on August 1st. I'm not capable of doing it because I'm not that skilled at carved cakes, fondant covered cakes, or air brushing. If anyone's interested and are available to do a cake for August 1st in MN (not sure exactly what city), please email me [email protected] and I'll send you the bride's name and phone number. She's been calling around and can't find anyone who can do it.

Thanks,
Angie

Hey Angie,

I don't want to try to talk you into making this cake, but it seems like you have the skill to, if you feel like trying it! There is a GREAT carved fish cake (its a bass) on NashvilleCakes page. You might want to contact her and ask her for some advice. She is super nice and it seems like this would be good experience for you, if you can't find someone. Just wanted to let you know

Check out her Bass fish picture. I would love to attempt it, alas I am not in MN icon_smile.gif

I have directions for a Jumping Fish cake from Jeanette Pohlman. I took her demo at ICES one year and it's been the most popular cake. Not all that hard but dowelling is crucial.

DO a search for Jumping Fish here on CC and I think it will come up...You could modify it for a Musky

Thanks for your faith in me! I would love to attempt it in the future, but maybe for my husband who is also a Musky fisherman and not a paying customer. Just in case...

I passed on the order, but did refer her to someone recommended by another CC member. I am swamped with orders at the moment and just don't have the time to try something new like this and still keep up with the rest. My nerves just couldn't take it!! I work full-time right now besides doing between 4-5 cakes every weekend and 1-2 wedding consultations a week. I'm trying to cut back on my hours at work but my boss isn't being the most helpful in that area right now! LOL!!

I totally understand icon_smile.gif Send a picture if you ever do attempt one. I'd love to see it. Good luck with the crazy-busy season and happy caking thumbs_up.gif
