It's Derby Eve in Louisville KY. You know the "fastest 2 minutes in sports." So, no cakes for me this weekend. No weddings Derby weekend as there are no caterers or halls available. But I have 5 weddings next weekend. I sort of forgot it was Mother's day . . . duh.

As I was born in KY, I have always looked forward to Derby Day.

I have no cakes this weekend, but am working on making figures for my DH's cake for next weekend. I am making two drunk guys laid out under a beer keg. I hope it turns out okay!!

I also have my dad's birthday next weekend (I should have found a DH that doesn't have a b-day the day before my dad's). I was teasing my dad about what type of cake he wanted...he said green and orange, so I'm going to try a rainbow or tye-dye cake. I love Macsmom's that she has on here.

Absolutely nothing icon_biggrin.gif I blocked off this weekend for my boys' b-day party. Their b-days are close together so we combine the party, but with ever 60 guests it gets a little rediculous. Kinda freaking out, they're calling for rain and there's no way they will fit in my house icon_cry.gif Heading to bed soon, the earliest in over a month, yay! I forgot it was Mother's Day next weekend as well, booked 3 weddings, so I'd better enjoy this weekend!!

I just wanna join the club but I'm not working on anything...

Been to KY once - actually twice - driving to Florida and then driving home!

I thought it was great because it was March and that morning we had left a ton of snow behind in Toronto. I was able to take my coat off there and walk around in short sleeves.

I bought a pastel green t-shirt with a horse on it.

Funny that there are no weddings because of the Derby. I think Indydebi has the same thing for the Indy 500.

Anyway, I have been working all day on cakes. I have finished a basketball cake, prom party cake, wedding shower cake, and am putting the finishing touches on a golf theme cake. Hopefully it won't be much longer. icon_smile.gif

Evenin' all! I am working on cakes/cupcakes for two weddings tomorrow. I am already tired which is bad because I am behind.

Had to make more bc, most of the cc are iced but the cake still needs to be put together.

I'm in for the long haul tonight I think and will still likely need to finish in the AM.

I'll be checking in here! icon_biggrin.gif

I just did 3 dozen Elmo cupcakes for my coworkers grandson's bday tomorrow. I love how they came out, but a bit disappointed he didn't want cookie monster.
Now that I'm done...time to relax.

I'm working on a hollywood walk of fame cake. I'm really excited about it, I think it's a cute idea. I posted a Q in another thread yesterday, but does anyone know how to make gold? I don't have any gold dust or color. I was thinking maybe yellow and a tiny bit of brown?? Any ideas?

Hey Everyone!

New to the Friday night cake club but I had to share my news.

I'm so excited because I'm making cakes for the class I will be taking on Monday - here's the exciting part- taught by SUGARSHACK! We will be doing stacked books and a fish. Can't wait. (No one but fellow CCers understand why I'm excited)

Good Evening all...I just finished a "Derby Cake" going to to a derby party tomorrow....I would have posted a picture....I took one, just no card in the camera.
It was buttercream embossed with an ivy design and airbrushed red, with a big black bow around the bottom. The top of the cake simply said "Talk DERBY to me" in black scripted PME fondant letters.
I too have a light weekend, first one in my new shop...I actually have a Saturday eve off!
Hope everyone had a great week.
Laura

I just finished a sandcastle cake for my birthday party tomorrow. I figured I wanted to try to do one, and I needed a cake, so that's what I did. Now I am tired but too wired to go to bed yet.

Thank you. I could have made a lot more improvements because I see a bunch of flaws. But, I figured if I had to bake my own cake, then I wasn't going to spend all night on it. LOL

Hi all. I haven't been here in several weeks but only have one cake tonight. I'm working on a transformer logo for a 5 year old. Need practice with fondant so it's taking me quite awhile to get it done. icon_confused.gif

Hi everyone!

I just finished a Ben 10 cake for my son's best buddies 6th birthday. My husband made the greatest alien to put on top (will post a photo tomorrow after I put the watch & alien on).

Have a John Deere 1st birthday cake for Sunday and I'm prepping for the upcoming "Q & U" wedding for my son's kindergarten class on Wednesday. They want a 3-tier wedding cake!

Hi everyone, it's strange but I've noticed around here Sundays seem to be the big cake days rather then Sat. I should be in the kitchen baking, but have spent the last couple of hours on here surfing around and using the excuse that I'm looking for ideas. Sun I have my son's b-day cake a baseball field with candy bases, dinosaur candles on the bases and a 3-d heilcopter in the middle of the field. Mon. an Edward Twilight cake for work, and a bee hive and bee cc for a work party at church. We're making hats for Fri.'s tea party. Tues. I have a Mardi Gras Mask cake for work, and then Fri. night something for a Tea Party at church. Can't decide if I want to do a hat or a tea pot for this one. I'm going to attempt to do edible image sugar cookies for this too. Good thing I have Sun. and Tues. off work. Good luck to everyone pulling a late night tonight.

That sandcastle cake was just too cute - love the idea. I'm at my regular job til 12:30 - then I get to go home and try to salvage my mom's cake. We lost our a/c at home and everything was just a mess...hoping it's better tonight now that it's a little cooler. Have fun at all the Derby/ birthday parties everyone's having...

Hi all! I'm working on another princess pillow cake. I had the same one to do last week. As I was airbrushing it, it fell to the floor. Had to start all over, I was up till 6 in the morning.
Well, this weekend I am working on one and guess what? No, it didn't fall to the floor this time. Just the last two I've made have fallen all the way in the middle tapedshut.gificon_cry.gif I'm working on my third, have no idea what I'll do if this falls. It isn't due till Sunday.

I haven't been on here in a few days because the modem was down, but now that I am back on, things look different on the home page. Where are all the other pictures? Now I only see "popular cake pictures added today". Where are the others? How do you view them in order to make them "popular"? Anyone know?
