I'm decorating my dil's baby shower cake, and I was hoping to get some advice.
I've planned on using a rice paper print on the cake itself, but also using 4 smaller rice paper prints on the cake board. The store told me that the rice paper would dry out in a matter of a couple of hours.
The question is, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep the rice paper moist until the shower, which is tomorrow? I was thinking of laying a coating of buttercream underneath to hold them in place, but don't know if that will be enough to keep it moist.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't tried it yet, but I read somewhere that if you spread a thin layer of piping gel over it completely, laying on parchment paper, say, and then place on the cake. It gives it a shiny appearance, so you may or may not want to do it. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the advice! I ended up not using the pictures on the board because my local grocery store couldn't print them. They were way too light. But I'm posting the photos of what I came up with on my photo page. I appreciate that you got back with me!
