Hello,

I have a cake due today, and I need to put flames on the sides of a 12" round with buttercream. Any tips or ideas how to achieve this?

Thanks icon_surprised.gif

Outline, fill in with a bigger tip. Preferrably a flat one. Let it crust then smooth with a paper towel (viva) or a finger dipped in cornstarch.

maybe stripe the bag, put blobs of yellow, red and orange in the bag, then as you pipe each flame (i dont know the names/ numbers, something wide, flat?) you get a mix of the colours. dont really know how that would look! but i like the idea.
you could do a basic shape in an orangy-yellow, outline with orange/ red too.
maybe mark out the flame shapes in your bc coat, so you have something to follow, im sure theres some flame shapes online, either in the sketches and templates gallery here, or google fire and colouring in pages.
theres a lot of different ways to do it shown in the galleries too, so as long as its the right colour, i think it will look like fire, lol http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&meta=search&type=full&search=fire%2C+flames&album=-&search_user=

I did small flames on a Star wars cake and put red, yellow, and orange in a bag and used a star tip so it was sort of rough looking and not flat and even. I can't seem to upload pics into a post so if you check my pics you can see.
