GeminiRJ, how did you get the candles at the top to stand up?

I baked them on lollipop sticks, instead of the usual cookie sticks. Worked great!

Tracy has no idea what her initial post on this topic would mean for me! I've had so-o-o much fun decorating cakes with cookies. Here's another one, and I was able to use the same template for the cookie candles as the last cake. I'm thinking I'll be getting alot of use out of that template.

The bottom layer is a 12" white cake, the top layer is a 9" chocolate cake. It was for a family celebrating a number of birthdays on Memorial Day.

I can't believe I didn't see this thread until today - WOW - everyone's cookie/cakes are fantastic!!

I want to join in the fun, too.... I made some cookies to put on cupcakes for my nephew's 2nd birthday last year. He lives 3000 miles away, so I couldn't make him a cake or be with him, but I sent him cookies on sticks and a really big "barn" card with instructions to put the cookies in the cupcakes they were getting and place them in front of the card/barn. The pictures they took aren't that great, so I also put up some of the ones I kept here for the "East coast" birthday celebration.

Is there any other support needed for the cookies other than sticks? If i every get to try this, i bet you my cookies will fall right out of the cake!! Do you guys make a denser cake?

Those are the cutest cupcakes ever! LOVE your cookie toppers. And with the card, they had to have been a huge hit with your nehew. Simply wonderful.

luv2bake6, the lollipop sticks worked great! I trimmed them so they stuck 2/3 of the way into the cookie, and had about 2" to 3" that stuck into the cake.

Gemini - Look at how cute that cake is! Love how crisp and clean your work is!

Bonnie - Okay, those cookies are wonderful and I think your idea to do cookies to be inserted into cupcakes on the other end is fabulous! You have really hit on something there! Love those cookies!

thanks!

I really love the idea of cookies used as decorations on cakes/cupcakes. I'm much better at cookies than I am with cakes!

After looking at the other examples, my creative juices are flowing... I can't wait to make another cookie cake!

I must be missing something. What cookie ideas are you getting from the Peggy Karr Glass website? I see beautiful glassware but nothing else.

How do we go about getting a CC gallery for Cookie Cakes? I'd love to see more of them!
(I answered my own question and found the place to post the request.)

Take a peak at her ornaments collection. They're all 3" round, perfect for a cookie! You just need to transfer the design in glass into a design on a cookie. If you look at my photos, I made a number of her ornaments into cookies. There's the upside down monkey holding a large heart, a white puppy (also holding a heart), the round reindeer cookie, the santa and polar bear cookie....I think that's all. But I know some of her flower ornaments would look lovely as cookies. Think icing....not glass!

I'm getting ideas for cookies from the glassware. Look at the surfboard motif -- I have a surfboard cutter and think the cookies would look great with a wave and a sunset (not to mention a few cool flowers on them)! icon_biggrin.gif Look at the glass coasters with the tropical drinks on them -- think square cookies with little tiny drinks done in fondant! Inspiration is EVERYWHERE -- you just have to open your mind to it. (Okay, I admit, I'm seriously addicted to the sugar arts -- you know you have it bad when you look at a glass coaster and say "boy would that make a GREAT cookie!") icon_lol.gif
