I am in the coastal Ga area-not too far from SC actually.
I don't understand if you don't like the threads why do you keep reading them? I understand that some need to be deleted or locked but what the moderators have to be police?
Can't everyone just get along? It will be boreing but oh well!
No one said anything about not liking them (as I stated its better than reading a book or mag)...I was just stating that they always get more comments and views than the ones where people are asking for help! This is a cake decorating forum but it seems that more people are interested in the drama than cake decorating. I know we all come here to vent sometimes (I have on more than one occasion) and when we post threads it is with the hopes that we can get some positive comments or feedback or even if someone giving us advice whether we like it or not...but there is always one person who sets off the drama. I understand that the forums might be boring without drama but this site wasn't created for drama it was created for cake decorating...Now correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems that the majority of the threads get ugly real quick. Like I said my honest opinion. The thread about the "stop payment for wedding cake"...I felt bad for the lady and then to find out it was a lie just really makes me wonder if this site is about cake or drama! Is this site/forum so boring that people have to make up these petty stories just to get a rise out of people. I guess I'll never understand why people do the things they do.

I don't think you can take 3 or 4 threads over the past few days/weeks and make a blanket statement like that about this site. There are hundreds of non-drama threads running that are cake related and informational.
This is the 2nd time today that I've felt the need to come in and "defend" CC and point out the obvious ..... a bad apple here and there does not a bad site make! Let's not lose sight of all of the good that is shared here!

I agree with Debi! Yes, I've seen people get eaten alive on some of the threads, myself included yesterday... LOL However, it happens. Too many differences of opinion, but in the end, it's a great and informative website. I really respect a lot of people on here.
i am totally flabbergasted (is that the word?)a hoax?!?! yes it creates doubt about who we are, real or looking to create drama and stir the sh*t-but i even though the thread gave me a migraine i still had to read what's happening. i love this site and the people on it (even those who have multiple personalities) what else would i spend my remaining time doing (housework? sleeping? bah!) lol
oh i want to say that now i'm really confused and don't really know what thread i'm posting on and which i'm reacting to as they are all overlapping but you get the idea (head swimming...must stop now...well, i'll be back soon hehe)

Indydebi...i'm not just referring to the 3 or 4 posts over the past few days/weeks..i'm talking about the ones that I've read that had to be locked or deleted over the past few months. Of course ur not going to remember every single one of them but u and I both know that there are more than just those 3 or 4 you think i'm referring to. A few months ago I posted something because I was venting about a certain situation and then it had gotten so ugly that it was deleted..but the bad thing about it is that it wasn't me (the person who started the thread) who was going at it with another person it was other people taking jabs at each other. It almost makes me scared to come here and vent to my cake buddies because I don't want it turning into a heated argument. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way...but i stand by what i said, these threads that start out so innocent become ugly. We can all have opinions and put our .02 in but do we have to be so mean about it? Its like sometimes u have to put in one of those darn winking emoticons so that people can determine whether your joking or just being a plain bitch about it!

I'll tell you one thing though...this site and the people here has made me grow thicker skin 
I've seen people leave because they felt that the environment here was a little hostile and of course you had some folks who wished them well and tried to talk them out of it and then u had some who gave them a hard time. Don't get me wrong there are alot of really supportive people here some that will tell u want u want to here and some that tell u what u need to hear whether u like it or not Overall the site is amazing...but i just hope that the drama can be kept to a minimum...lets say like 1 drama post a month Just wishful thinking

I am not discouraged and do appreciate all the advice that I have gotten!!!! Its true that anytime you deal w forums there is always going to be drama and people making things up-I found that out on a forum geared towards moms that I frequented when I was pregnant-I finally did get annoyed and stopped visiting it!

I have been on the CC forums a long time and generally don't see drama like this post. Indydebi is right in that you are viewing a minority of these types of threads. Just browse "Cake Decorating" or "Cookies" directories, or the tutorials to see all the time and effort people generally put into helping one another. I would say there there is A) 70% encouragement and help, advise, good stuff, etc... B) 20% drama about collecting payment, what to do, how to handle a bridezilla and c) 10% complaints, arguments and newbies with drama issues.
Remember, we are heading into "cake season". At Christmastime this past year 2008, there was nothing to be found but advice on family cakes, yule logs, tutorials, etc..
Just go with the ebb and flow of CC. Its a GREAT place and a lot less snarky than so many other forums. I can name a few, but that would be adding to the drama. Suffice-it-to-say, CC is generally not about drama between decorators, it is a place to hear and be heard and encouraged, ok?

Just wanted to add that you can actually put any # at the end and it will move you backward or forward (depending on if you want to go back some pages or forward but to be at the top of the page each time it must be divisible by 15). So if your feeling lazy and don't want to figure out what 88 *15 is you can just guestimate (??).

I understand that...but as i said it was my opinion and from what i've seen and read lately. Of course the threads don't have a subject where u immediately know theres going to be drama. The topic could be something like "I am making a pink cake but i don't have pink coloring what to do?" and of course u have ur comments that are very helpful and then there can be one person who makes a snide remark and then it turns into a war zone. I never said CC was about drama I said that these innocent threads always turn ugly and those threads are the one that generally get the most views and comments. U can agree or not its my honest opinion and I'm done with it

If e-mails become a hazle contact your local police, file a report for harassing e-mails. The police investigator will obtain an IP address from the e-mails and track down the sender. Go to court take out a no contact or restraining order against the sender explaining that this person is placing you in fear of your personal safety (after all nobody is supposed to have your personal info). The order will go to court and the sender will get a good reminder from the judge. This will teach that person to mind their own business and step-up his/her game if they want to stay in business.
Tell that lady to quit being a clown, obviously shes got no idea what shes talking about. Talk to my supervisor or they will pay you a visit It just doesnt work like that She probably lost a client to you and she is bitterIgnore her but if it continues, you know what to do. Dont warn her, just catch her by surprise and document everything.
And by the way, in GA, varies from county to county the ordinances and laws for home bakers. Ck your county and city, maybe you are just steps ahead to become legal.
Don't sell until your legit & for who try to intimidate, call their bluff! Ask them for all their info. & see how they respond. More then likely they'll stumble, if their legit, call they're supervisor for harrasing you.
Dkelly & Indydebi, I talked to my husaband & he said you guys are right. It's easy to avoid the drama threads, but when you think it's sincere & then it's a hoax, THAT'S CRAZY! I just fell in love with this site & I enjoy the coversations & the...uh...we'll call them debates with everyone on here. The knowledge, advice, & support is great. I know those that feel the way I do will still be there, so we can continue to support each other!

There were some loop holes in the story and someone did some serious investigating and found that she had lied about the event, stolen the pic of the cake and photoshopped it. She angered a lot of people because everyone was being so supportive and giving her good advice.

Oh good I'm glad you reconsidered and that you'll be sticking around.
You're right, the people that share our passion for baking/decorating will always be here to support each other............the drama trolls will only stick around until they get bored and move on to another site.
This is an awesome site, I've learned so much here......much more then I've learned in any class I've taken in the past.

Momkiksbutt, you have to admit: the OP already had her question answered several times over. Oftentimes threads go off topic once numerous people have answered the original question...it's just part of the natural flow, and IMHO it's quite welcome IF things get controversial; instead of fanning the flames, people go off topic to diffuse the situation and remain friendly and upbeat.
To the OP, if you don't want the thread to go off topic, I advise you to request that the moderators lock the thread. Happens all the time for OT threads, not just for the crazy ones .

10 pages...WOW...i'm not reading them all.
However, I dont know if this was addressed or not about reporting your info to the IRS.
If its a hobby, you really don't need to report it to the IRS. Especially if you make less than $3000 a year.
