Pre-Made Fondant Decorations??

Good Day All!

I am making a cake within the week. This is going to be a BC iced cake. However, there is going to be a lot of fondant cut out shapes that will go on it. Circles and squares. I have learned in the past that if you keep plain fondant sealed in a air tight container, or zip-lock bag it will stay fresh and pliable.

With this in mind, can I make these cut out shapes in advance?? Has anyone ever done this before. I am testing this theory. I have placed a couple of cut outs in a zip lock bag 2 days ago. I checked it last night, and they are still pliable. They are not stiff at all.

I just would like to know if anyone has ever made fondant cut outs in advance and then applied them to a BC iced round cake???

Thank you all....

well im doing some of my decorations in advance i however dont need them to be pliable they are just flat flowers but they have been open air for 2 days now and i can still squish them and disfigure without major cracking so i would assume you making them airtight could probably get them to last the week sorry its not much help more just an opinion

I'm in the same boat. I've never tried to cut out shapes and keep them fresh. I just make flowers or little critters in advance. Be sure to let us know. At least you can do them 2 days in advance though!
