One more thing.... let's not forget how they'll probably go back to Wal-Mart on Sunday and complain the those cakes where bad and demand a refund. And get it! Where I come from this is called a Trailer Trash mentality! At least it helps when you know you are 100% right, AND YOU ARE!!! Keep your chin up!

Just an FYI

Several pages back someone (sorry can't remember the poster) said that they accepted only a cashiers check or cash for payment on a cakes the closer the event got. Well, I want to let them know that even a cashiers check can bounce sky high. I worked for a local grocery store in there Returned Check department, and we had a 3k cashiers check bounce for NSF. We tried to get the money back from the back, telling them that we thought a cashiers check was exactly like cash, but they said that although it was rare, this could happen. When they had created the cashiers check the customer had money in the bank, but at midnight, when all the transaction start to post to customers accounts, the money was no longer there. So, the grocery store had to eat the 3k. And, because so little information is on a cashiers check, like customer address or phone number we couldnt even get a collecion agency to try and collect from the customer.

Wow, there are just too many ways in this big old world to cheat people. Thank goodness those who choose to do so (and seem to get away with it) will eventually have to answer to the highest of judges in all eternity.

They will get their just desserts one way or the other. We just may not have the actual joy of seeing it happen. But rest assured, no bad deed will go unpunished. Just my humble opinion folks.

You guys! You almost made me forget the banana muffins I had just put in the oven. I just sat down to catch up while they were baking and time slipped.
Luckily I was right next to the kitchen and could smell them before they burned (too much).

SugarFrost that video was hilarious, thank you for starting my day with a a laugh. thumbs_up.gif

What a saga, it took me 2 1/2 hours to read this, and I skimmed alot because I didn't have time to read 43 pages. Wow 43 pages, everyone sure bands together in support, that's great!! Even if we can't do anything, it's always good to vent to others who understand.

I am so sorry that this has happened to you, but it looks like you have all the right players on your side. Good luck getting this resolved and I hope that you have a wonderful Easter, don't let this get you down, she's (the bridezilla) not worth it!!!!!

To everyone who watched and LOL'd at the Store Wars video:
You're Welcome!
It seemed like a good time for a good laugh while we are all unable to sit still, or tear ourselves away, while we wait for an update.

for those who missed the link, here it is again...
In a grocery store far far away...
Store Wars!

I have watched that video a dozen times and I still laugh. Very creative people who made that!

OK, this has sucked me in too and even on Easter I keep hoping for an update...

Am I alone in wishing there were a SPECIAL notification to inform us of a reply by the OP?
Not that I'd want to miss some of the other posts (Grocery Store Wars was brilliant! not to mention how wonderful it is to see the support CCers offer their members) but then I wouldn't be running as much and would still see everything!

At this point it's probably best to turn my computer off...unfortunately I might go through some serious withdrawal. Pitiful, isn't it?

Happy Easter everybody!

If you want to see if an update was given by OP, you can just bring up their profile and you can see "find all posts by dsevans". It also shows how many posts have been made, so if the number goes up then OP has made a new post. Then if you click "all posts", you can see the latest posts and you'll be able to see if an update was provided or not.

HTH.

I hate to be the pessimist, but just because the MOG had no idea what was going on doesn't mean the groom wasn't in on it from the beginning. Most people pick out their cakes together, so he may have even been the mastermind behind the whole thing!!!

My imagination is just running since we haven't had an update...haha!!

Happy Easter everyone!

AHHHHHHHHH! I've been sucked into this soap opera too! Waiting on the edge of my seat for details of the "big day"! Everyone I've told about this saga, has stood there with their jaw hanging open! LOL! Way better than any tv show! I wouldn't want to have this happen to any cake decorator anywhere. But it sure is a juicy topic! Gotta get ready for church. I'll be back later today to see if anything new has been posted! See you all here as well! LOL! We're addicts aren't we?

MY HUBBY TOO! I'm been running back and forth from my kitchen (doing an Easter cake) to my computer and everytime my DH pops his head in the kitchen and asks "so did she post the pictures yet, what happened at the venue"?
Freaking hilarous! As much as our DH's complain about our cake porn, deep down they are just as much into the drama as we are!!! icon_biggrin.gif

On Page 38 so do't shoot me if my thoughts are a repeat ...
Since the cake balance was only $550 (?) this is not a huge case right? I am wondering if there are any other vendors left hanging by this bride. Can the vendors join together and make one case against her in court and make the charges against her a larger dollar amount that are more serious? She needs her just dessert!

Hey Tammy,
Thanks for the heads up on cashiers checks. Been a caker for over 15 years. Never had a problem. Didn't know this. The things we learn from one another here is fabulous. I'll be more careful.

Where is the op I know we all have a zillion things to do. And, here we all are glued to our pc.

I want to hear. Someone dropped the wally world cakes when they brought them in. HeHee

Now, wouldn't that be just too special?

[quote="dsevans"] but she will also be fined and most likely get jail time, though it could be suspended with community service.

Community Service - wouldn't it be a hoot for the OP to drive down the road and see the bride picking up trash!
I think all of us following this saga are very proud of the OP for standing up for herself. Karma will show itself to this gal, for sure.

I understood it was $1100 ($550 was just the deposit; she was being kind enough to let them pay the balance next week - they ordered a cake they could pay HALF of!). She posted a picture a few pages back - it was a huge cake, stacked with gumpaste flowers! It sounds like the bank will be persuing this and since it's the bride's bank as well as the OP's, I hope they do pull in the other vendors and involve them if any of them were swindled - they might not even realize it yet!

Would someone please go wake up the OP. I can't stand this waiting. We need an update.

LOL LOL -----"Community Service - wouldn't it be a hoot for the OP to drive down the road and see the bride picking up trash!"

How about this scenario instead.....the OP drives down the road with an entire motorcade of Cake Central supporters right behind her. Now that would make the whole thing soooooo complete! Wait, include the MOG and his entire family in that motorcade along with several of the venders who put the wedding on!

PLEASE let us know....hope her honeymoon includes lots of sex, mcdonalds, and booze, cuz once she gets back, she won't be gettin any of that in jail...(well, hahahahah maybe the first item...but that's a whole other site and thread).
