Ok to double "Extender" or "Durable" cak

Tonight I am making a 14" round with Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge cake mix. Initially, I was going to use the cake extender recipe to make this cake thicker/moister. My first question - can the Cake Mix Extender, the Durable Cake or the Enhanced Cake Formula recipes be used with chocolate cake? Secondly, since I need two mixes to fill a 14" x 3" pan, can I double up on the ingredients and whip it all up together .... or do I need to mix each batch separately and then combine in one bowl.

Thank you! icon_smile.gif

I have used the extender with chocolate, but it takes away some of the chocolate flavor so I add some cocoa powder!

I agree with sls0812, I'd add cocoa powder or some melted chocolate to the batter to make it more chocolate. As far as mixing 2 batters, I know my bowl on my KA is big enough to do 2 cake mixes, but I don't think it would hold 2 recipes of the extenders. All the added ingredients would make too much for my bowl to hold.
