Who Uses Nut Cups Instead Of Liners?

I was watching the wedding cake challenge with the brides as the assistants and the cuppies the guy used were in nut cups. Who uses nut cups instead of liners and why??
Actually I do a combination of both. I bake in a regular plain white liner and put the whole cupcake still in the wrapper it was baked in into a similar size nut cup. I find that it gives a cleaner presentation and allows me to decorate the wrapper either with a simple ribbon or even more elaborate. To make it easier to remove the cupcake I precut an X into the bottom of the nutcup. That way you just push your finger up through the X and gently push out the cupcake and remove the original wrapper to eat. Sounds more complicated than it is. This is just what I like to do.

I've used them a few times. I really like the look of them. I do wonder how food safe they are when heated. Has anyone called Wilton about it?
I like the idea of cutting an X in the bottom. I have just made a little cut in the top edge to make it easier to tear open.
I use them sometimes for my samples, like at shows and such. I am having a Grand Opening in a couple of weeks, and will be using them for that. They aren't too big, and they are more than just a tiny bite.
Great idea to put the liner in the cup-much more secure. Incidently, they're called paper souffle cups at restaurant supply places--come in lots of sizes.
I have never used them before. But I always see cute pictures. For instance, check out punkinpie's avatar picture in this thread. I mean how cute is that cupcake?? They just make such a nice presentation!
I wish they came in different colors!
Sorry guys! I forgot that you don't get updates when a response is posted unless you check the watch box.....So besides just being a very clean presentation are they sturdier than regular cuppie liners? I'm gonna try my hand at the cuppie bouquets and was just trying to plan ahead a little and was wondering if maybe I should bake in cups instead of the liners. Any opinions?
I just bought 4 oz. nut cups to bake cupcakes in. They don't fit in my cupcake pans. Do you just bake them on a cookie sheet?

I just place mine on a cookie sheet. Works really well for me. Not sure what others do.
Thanks punkinpie! You'll be pleased to know that it was your avatar picture that I showed the bride to convince her to use the nut cups. How about that?
About how long do you bake them, and at what temperature?

I am toooo pleased to hear that Did you hear me squeal?!
I bake them at the same temperature as I bake regular cupcakes and usually I end up baking for less time than the recipe calls for. Keep a close eye on them. Maybe do a test run.

Hey, thanks for sharing this! I have the cups to use but haven't yet. The X in the bottom to push them out, veeery clever. I'll use that thanks!
Can you get the nut cups (cupcake size) in colors?
Kimsmom, I am a CA girl. Garden Grove. Where are you in So CA?
There's a gal back here who went to GG High school. I was at Pacifica.

I'll have to thank Jeannem for clarifying the term in this question. I kept thinking about athletic supporters!

ROFLMBO!!!!!!!!!!
I use both, I like the nutcups because I can place them on a cookie tray to bake instead of a cupcake pan. My kids have a little more trouble getting them out unless I snip the top a bit before baking. I still want to try the x idea on the bottom & sliding them in. May try that for a b-day next week.

LOL! I was thinking something along this line as well! And also " I might have to get me some of those! hehe
But thanks for clarifying! Now I know what they are, and I too love them in punkinpie's avy!
I agree!! Punkin! You could so market that image!!!!! LOVE IT!!
Ok~ so does anyone know?? Do they come in colors or just white? And the cuppies are more stable with the nutcups as opposed to just the liners??
do you spray the cups with pam. i was thinking of using them for a b-day party i dont want it to be difficult for the kids to eat.
