Hi gang!
I have a bridal consultation tomorrow with a bride who wants "mini cakes" for her rehearsal dinner. What is your price range for petit fours or mini cakes? I have seen $5 - $10 per cake. Is that what you all are getting? Or am I too low? I know they are a lot of work...
I did 1",2" and 3" stacked for $12.00 each with tiny pearl dots and a tiny looped bow on each. I made 19 of them. I could have made six two tiered 6"-10" cakes in the same amount of time for $125 each.
Too time consuming I will charge $20-$25 if ever ordered again

Ditto,
They are cuter than a bugs ear, and wayyyyyyyyyyy to time consuming. I did 200 minis in the mini cake pan from wilton and decorated to look like the big cake, basketweave with purple/ylw daisies. NEVER again. I won't even tell you what I charged it was so low, I spent 20 solid hours decorating those. From now on, if I do any, my limit is 2 dozen and the price is a minimum $3.00 depend upon design. My hands cramp just thinking about it.
I only did 12 4 inch cakes and decorated them (not stacked) Boy are those things time consuming...I hope I don't have to do those again anytime soon.
I've seen the articles in the magz indicating to brides that individual mini cakes on each table would be "....so much cheaper!" and AGAIN i wonder who in the heck is writing these articles, because obviously they've never decorated a bunch of little cakes as opposed to one big cake!
I've no intention of ever doing mini cakes just for this reason. If I do, they are paying out the whazoo for 'em!!!
The biggest expense in food isn't the food ..... it's the labor.
