Hi everyone!

SOS! I am hoping there are some people around from the Calgary, AB area who could help me by telling me if you know where I can find VIVA paper towel! I need it desperately for Saturday and so far I've checked Superstore, London Drugs, Safeway, and Walmart... No luck yet!
Any help would be VERY appreciated!

Thanks,

Meagazz

If you can't get ahold of any Viva you could always try wax paper....pretty much the same concept, but it might take a little bit longer.

I always get mine at Ralphs or Walmart. They are usually next to the Bounty ones. But, I have noticed the the roll has gotten smaller. Less sheets per roll? Hope you find them I can't live with out them.

I don't get it. What are you doing with the VIVA towels, that you can't do with any other brand?

Viva is soft like cloth and has no distinct raised pattern like other paper towels, thus giving a very forgiving pliable surface to use to smooth frosting. It can be shaped over edges and around corners. It is absorbant and doesn't tear.

Faux fondant.
And I've used wax paper. It's not as easy but it works.

Maybe you can try parchment paper. I tried that with my most recent cake and it worked perfectly. Good luck!

Viva paper works much better than wax paper..And as in comparison with other brands is soft and doesnt have any pattern.

Viva used to be called Job Squad years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if it has a different name in Canada.

Try finding a store using this: http://www.vivatowels.com/general/storelocator/

I live here in Calgary, AB. You can't get them in Canada. Like you I checked every store. Finally I settled on a store brand that had the least print design. I also use plain computer paper to finish the cake up. Nice to meet someone from Cow Town on here. My favorite site!

... yeah, good old Cow Town! With our lovely days of snow, snow, and more snow! And this is definitely my favorite site as well! I can't get enough! Sometimes my bf teases me that I spend more time on here than I do with him...! Haha!
I did keep my eyes open for the store brand with the least amount of pattern on it, so maybe I'll try your method!
Although, my BIL said that apparently you can get Viva at Sobeys! So I may try there tomorrow just to ease my mind!

Thank you everyone for all of your help!

Thanks for posting this, i was gonna ask the same thing. I'm in BC, and I swear that I have bought them before, but I can't remember where I got them. I'm gonna look again and see if I can find them. If you do find some in Canada, would you mind posting to say where you got them?
Thanks icon_smile.gif

I don't know if any of you are close to the border, but you could cross over (to the dark side?) to the US and stock up. Maybe send a roll to a few others in Canada on being reimbursed for costs. I can just picture you at the border crossing:

"Anything to declare?"

"Paper towels."

"Really?? Why?" (backing slowly away from your car)

I live in London, Ontario and can't find Viva towels.  What I use are the blue shop towels.  They come in rolls like paper towels and are found in the automotive department at Wal-Mart or Canadian Tire.  Hope this helps.icon_smile.gif
