Someone asked me to make a grooms cake. I German Chocolate Cake and filing. She wants it to be a Firemans helmet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated......

Did you check the gallery? I'm pretty sure there's some fire helmet pics in there, just do a search.

Sounds good but I'm afraid that that cake won't hold up for sculpting. I know that when I do a german's chocolate cake it is very moist and not veyr dense at all. I hope someone else can offer you some advice.

I have never actually made german chocolate, so I didn't know that Karema. Maybe you could add some pudding and an extra egg to the mix. That usually makes the cakes more dense! Possibly try asking in the gourmet flavors thread, they might be able to give you more advise about the density!
