When is "Last Cake Standing, Personal Best Cakes" going to be on????? I need to mark my calendar immediately!!

I have also marked my calendar for Buddy's new show. Wonder what he is going to show us - maybe how to make those beautiful, fantastic, glorious flowers - or helpful hints at least!! I hope it's not another "Duff" kind of show.

Buddy - I loved, loved, loved your cake - it was fantastic!!! That is the kind of cake I dream about being able to do - only in my dreams that's for sure. Can you clairfy who actually did the cake for the bride - you or someone else?

I don't think Buddy will be another Duff...for one thing, Buddy is more talented than Duff - IMO!
Hey, my recipe isn't there...what gives?! I submitted it and it disappeared! *crying*

It normally takes a bit after posting for it to show up. Give it a little while and see if it does!! Thanks for sharing!

(This new stupid laptop tends to screw up my typing... I am really irritated by it, so if you see me typing weird stuff, you'll know why. I certainly did mean pate a choux... not pat.) icon_rolleyes.gif

(Ok, perfect example... when I just re-read what I typed, where I typed 'you'll know why' it came up as 'you'll know what'. I think I know the difference in those two words... icon_confused.gif This comp. is out to get me.)

Ok, as much time as Im on here, Im surprised I missed something!!!! Ok...TLC Buddys show...when will it air??? 2nd Who si this Josh guy they kept picking on for his scrolls, swirls? I agree on Anne...she didnt have a chance with that bride, BUT...she does do fantastic work, they all do infact.

I also wondered why they didnt ask that bride if she was happy with her cake??? I didnt think that was fair but did notice it immediately.

Can I just say that I didn't think that Anne's bride was "The worst ever" like a lot of people are saying? MAYBE she was edited too, just like they seem to edit everyone else.

I'd have been psyched to have a bride come to me with a crazy sketch like that. I get REALLY tired of white roses. The time limits made it impossible to get the cake done the way they wanted it, not to mention the lack of experience of the "assistants." I felt bad for them because it was a really ambitious cake to do in the time given, considering the situation the food network threw at them.

The fact that she didn't walk away with the $1000, and also said that it wasn't the cake that she imagined because it was her own sketch that she turned out to not be happy with, not Anne's ability, shows that she's not a horrible person. Let's not be so quick to fall into the Food Network's trap of judging people based on the editing process!

I also give Anne credit because she did try to accomodate the bride's ideas. If she had had a professional assistant I bet she'd have been able to do a great cake based on that design. It's hard to do a huge wedding cake and teach someone what to do at the same time. I'm just tired of the fake situations they've been setting up recently on these challenges.

And Buddy's cake was really pretty, too icon_smile.gif Maybe for the new show he can have editing approval so they can't mess around with reality (unless he wants them to!)

Yes, the other episode that was on last night was edited to look like one decorator and Kerry were fighting. At the end, they hugged. Drama, drama, drama!

But you have to admit, the drama on that episode was pretty funny! I loved how the decorator compared Kerry to the evil queen:

Kerry: "I don't have an upturned nose."
Decorator: "You mean literally or figuratively?"

That challenge was great, it was kind of nice just to see a different format. Elizabeth's design was beautiful, but it just didn't seem like a wedding cake to me. The judge's said it looked like a lovely dessert buffet, and that's what it seemed to me, too. I was so hoping Buddy would win, and I agree, he didn't seem at all cocky. He came across as so cool and confident, and I almost cheered when he spoke up to the judges! Buddy's time management just appeared to be flawless, and the cake was so perfect for a garden theme wedding, what else could you have done, other than gorgeous flowers?

Well Buddy I just want to say.......My husband, My 23 year old son that was waiting for friends to pick him up and I were watching the show and all three of us said YESSSSS Buddy when you told the judges that you would have liked to see any one of them make the flowers you did in that amount of time!!!!! My son says there you go, you made them look like a______es! I agree. I think you did a fabulous job, your cake was gorgeous and even though I feel bad for Anne, shes a lovely girl but she got screwed royally with her bride.

Yay a new cake show to get addicted to.. My husband was going through the DVR and said , "Why is this thing full of Cake shows, You need to delete some of these there is no room for Nascar"

I said "delete those and your dead" I guess i have to go record them to Dvd now to make room for Buddy's show.

Congratulations Buddy, I just love how Cakes are taking over the TV.

I respect everyone's opinion so I hope you'll respect mine on this one..........I just don't think I could sit and watch an entire cake show of Buddy icon_sad.gif

I may give it a shot, just to see if his "jerky" attitude is in fact just a result of the Food Network's editing. I just keep thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld....."NO RED FLOWER FOR YOU!!"

I mean that would have been a problem for me if I REALLY wanted red, so the "Brides need to trust me comment" doesn't fly with me on this one.

Maybe he didn't bring RED petal dust and that's why he HAD to sell her on the pink?

The finished cake was pretty and well done though as I said earlier, but it wasn't red like she wanted. I think that's a pretty simple request to fill.
We as decorators don't always know best, if she was a paying client I would hope that he would give her what she asked for.

Let me see, I'm working at my Salon tomorrow, I think I'll make my first client's hair purple, even if she wants it to be brown, she'll need to trust me on this one! icon_rolleyes.gificon_wink.gif

Waaay too much drama on these episodes lately, I'm losing interest very quickly.

thank you all for all the great comments it means alot to me. let me try to ansewer all the questions. first we did make the cake for the bride isent a van the following week to denver and assembled the cake at keegans place in denver . that really sucked i mean i could not hammer them for all the exspenses although they did cover some. that cake had alot of flowers so it was a pain but it is so much easier to work at the bakery.

i do think they made me look cocky last night you know what it is the producers when they interview you they are like come say it with some meaning and me being italian it dont take much to get me yelling. even my mom told me i looked cocky and she is my biggest fan. i mean it is tv they need the drama.

i gotta admit it felt great to tell the judges that and i was scared that i might not have one for that reason so thank god i did . i mean not to take away anything from the other competitors but at the end of the day when i stared down the line i thought i should have one.and believe me i have stood ther e and said i definatly understand both sides

elizabeth piece was awesome and she is so nice but i knew they where gonna hammer her for it . i mean she did alot of work there was alot of different things on that piece. but at the end of the day it does not have the wedding cake feel. it was a brave move to do that.

josh is a great guy to and he does amazing piping i mean i am old school and you can tell he knows what he is doing. i really liked his cake also and so what if he pipes . i mean it looks great and he does it with ease it kind of like me making all those flowers thats what i am good at so that is what you should do at challange.kerry bitched at him for painting with the none edible gold and it he said no look at the package and it said old gold and kerry bought it but i new that was bullshit he was smooth and switched the jar labels i mean why not it paints on so much easier and nobody eats those cakes. he put it past the judges but not me i thought it was funny we laughed about it later .

i figured you guys would like a little behind the scenes ann did great it was her first compitition but she should of tried to control the bride to do something more to who anne is because she is talanted and her cake was not horriable at all it was a little incomplete she did not have enough time to do more it is a learning experiance . it is your first challange you want to make eveerry happy it is hard i have been there
so thank you all for your support see you soon

Thank you

Buddy Valastro

hi kelly i do respect your opinion and if you do not have to like me or not it really does not matter . the reason i did pink instead of red was because it was a garden wedding and i did not see red flowers in my visionand you should respect my opinion on that. yes i had red dust and could of used it but first off in challange it is all about time management and final product i was not going to give creative controll to anyone and i had good results with it. second it would of took double the time to paint all those flowers red and i have learned to use time management right in challanges third off there would of been red dust all over in that 2 by 2 kitchen and did not want to get it all over the cake. so no i am not a flower nazi i have been around the block a couple times and i did not want to screw up. but you sound like a know it all so i am sure you new all this. remember the bride is not always right and some times you have to step in and state your opinion and you know what they usally listen . at the end of the day it is your name on the cake and if the bride wants a ugly cake with crazy colors i will make as long as she pays but i will say my opinion so when i look at it i know i tried.

Thank you for your answer Buddy. I appreciate knowing the "why" behind desicions. I have not been there and do not know the reason. I think the red with that white would have been a bit much but it is what the bride did ask for first. At the end, though, she did really seem to like the choice and you decision. Brides do sometimes have to be educated on what looks good and what is practical. I look forward to your new show, cocky or not, you have the talent and skills we can all learn from.

I agree that at times we need to educate the clients because we have experience that they do not. Buddy is obviously doing something right or he would not be successful!

I also want to say that sometimes it is not about respecting opinions. Sometimes if we don't have something nice to say there is really no reason to share it with the world.
I mean, all of us encounter enough negativity in a day. You never know when a kind word (or just holding the not-so-kind ones) can make a difference to someone. icon_smile.gif
