I have to make a beaver cake for a groom's cake. It is red velvet, carved. I need suggestions on how to do the fur. Should I use buttercream or should I use fondant and mark it? Also, the whiskars.........I thought about using the smallest spaghetti and coating with royal icing for a sharp point. Thanks in advance.

I found this picture. Looks to me like airbrushed fondant that has been marked. I don't see any whiskers, but I have seen people use clear fishing string for whiskers. It's pretty obvious to everyone that it isn't edible. Good luck!
