Loubee, I've got the hummingbird bakery cookbook too, was given to me by my cousin for christmas :) I've not tried anything yet!

I've got all of their books Jean and there's some great looking recipes, but I've only ever baked one and that was from their first book which was carrot cake and it was lovely. I should use their books more really.

Original message sent by nannycook121

Oh jean, sorry, need to explain this cake, it's for a 13 yr old girl who likes a programme from the 70s called "On the Buses, they had an inspector called Blakey, so she wants the red double bus, all the characters to go on the cupcakes too, don't want much do they?

Bit of a strange request for a 13 year old but each to their own. lol.

Roxy I bet Angel is so excited, I know I would be and I'm a grown woman. How fab you've been five times already Disney Land Paris sbf the one in Florida are both on my "to visit" list.

AHow lovely for angel roxy, she must be so excited :-) How are you feeling about her going abroad without you?

Cheryl, Bushy was about 20 mins from where I lived growing up! Your dog is adorable: those eyes!

I'm panicking a bit about this quote I have to do. The lady seems very nice, but wow she knows what she wants - homemade marshmallow fondant or at a push fondarific, flavours all sorted for all tiers, both cakes - the one for 30 and the one for 200 - to be identical except for size (how do I do that, the big one needs more tiers?!) lace not too thick - there's more but I've forgotten.

She clearly knows exactly what she wants which is great...I just hope her expectations can be met :/

Nicola, how about a gravity cake but with love hearts? Or, a giant love-heart-alike with a personal message. If you've got any letter stamps you could use them to 'write' the message and it would look just like the real thing :-D

I don't know if I've missed anything about this previously, but do you know this person?  I've NEVER been asked to use MMF or a particular brand of sugarpaste.  It's not a competitor getting you to price up a cake so they don't have to do the hard work is it?

A[@]Lizzybug78[/@] where abouts did you live?? I love bushy park so do the kids we try and go as much as we can specially in the summer (although it does get packed in the car parks then). Dunno if it makes it harder or easier that she knows what she wants

AMorning!

Aw nice to se you back Tiddy, and glad that pup made it through the op ok and is recovering well! Sorry you aren't feeling too fab, hope you are ok x The videos look great, love the cake ninja logo!

Nanny, that sounds like a lovely little trip away! Very nice, I could just do with something like that at the moment

Hi Roxy! Hope you are ok, long time no see! Wow what a fab school trip LOL wish we had that sort when I was at school! Hope she has an amazing time!

Aaw Maisie poor Leah, that's so sad, no wonder she was quiet bless her :(

I must have missed Jeans cake recipe! Would love to try it out though, I love the Cadman one (Chezzabelle try searching Maisie Fantasie for the recipe) but I think it's quite 'grown up' in terms of flavour, and I'd like to have something a little lighter for kids cakes. Speaking of, has anyone had any success with strawberry buttercream? I've never managed to make a really good strongly flavoured one, and I don't really want to use artificial flavours if I can help it?

Lizzy, wow I agree with Suzanne, asking for specific fondant is a really unusual request!? And in terms of size, I think you will have to go tiered on the big cake, but if each tier is decorated the same as the smaller cake, that should be ok shouldn't it?

Sorry if I've missed anyone, haven't had my first cuppa yet so not quite awake LOL!

Morning all :) Tiddy I've been watching your FB with baited breath and now I'm in work and can't get youtube!!!!! gah!!!! lol :) can't wait to see your videos :)

How'd the cakes go Suzanne?

Lizzy that request looks like a can of worms I personally would say I'm fully booked or maybe inflate the price..... not likely worth the trouble though

Mel you can get freezedried strawberries from ebay and blitze them into a fine dust and add that to your BC it's really yum!! however, what's nicer I think is seperate layers of vanilla BC and strawberry coulis thickenned with arrow root..... it's 8:03 and I want cake you're a bad influence!!

Sheesh china visas are a pain in the butt! can't do em online... the consolates are only in London, Manchester or Edinburgh so we'd have to fly there and then fly back 4 days later to pick up the visa in person.... post is the only way and the wack on a massive fee! ah well... it'll be worth it :)

Morning all

I'm fine about Angel going abroad without me as the school are very good and are going to text to say they have arrived safely, the next day to say how their day was, when leaving to travel home and also to say they have arrived back in the UK. Angel is sensible to so I know she will be fine. The first night they are going to Planet hollywood for tea, the next day they are in the park all day and the third day I think they will just have a couple of hours in the morning there before they travel home, it will be nice for her as she is an only child so this time will have her friends with her.

Lovely cuppies Nanny. She is going Monday morning Nanny we have to be at school at 5:30am so they can leave at 6am, they are travelling by coach and the euro train.

I'm fine thanks Mel how are you?

Gray what have I missed are you going to China?

AMorning all. :-)

Nice to see you roxy. I bet angel's getting excited now isn't she? My son went to Paris with school when he was 12, he loved it. It was good for him too cos although he's got Leah he was a bit like an only child in some respects, we couldn't gave gone somewhere like that, it would've been too much for Leah so I was glad he had the opportunity to go with his friends.bet you've had fun packing! I couldn't fit in half of what I wanted him to take and he's a boy! :-)

Lovely cupcakes nanny, I'm sure your pro will be very happy! :-D

Lizzy I didn't even think it might be a dodgy request but now Suzanne has said it I'm starting to think "oh yeah, could be".

I didn't even know bake off was on last night, I'll have to remember to look for it next week.

Oh dear tiddy, I typed tiddylicious into YouTube and I thought blimey what had she been up to!!!! Glad the puppy and mr T are better now.

Gray that sounds like a lot of hassle, be worth it when you get there tho. When are you going? Sorry if you've already said, I overslept this morning and my brain is bit fuzzy still!

Thanks everyone, Leah's fine now. They do lose a few children every year, very sad to see it on the newsletters at the end of each term but it's a special school and some of them have got an awful lot of health problems on top of their disabilities.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, hope you all have a good day, I'm off to do my entire extended family's shopping, bill paying, cleaning and whatever else they've got for me to do now. It's not my entire family really, it just feels like that! :-D

Hi Maisie, Angel has picked what she wants to take and stuffed it in the suitcase so I am gonna go through it later and check she has everything she needs and try to fit it all in. I bought her the clear plastic travel bottles for her toiletries so she doesn't have big bottles of everything to take so I think she will probably have a bit of space to bring the bits home that she buys.

Gray that sounds so exciting hope you and Mrs Gray have a fab time it looks like an amazing place to visit.

Yes - putting Tiddylicious into the search bar was.....well....interesting to say the least!:-D

I think it's great - I now can say to my friends "I 'know' her"!!  From little acorns.....

Lizzy - I don't know anybody who even knows what MMF is.  Not saying she's not bona fide as she might have done a lot of research as suggested but I would offer to drop the quote round to her house rather than email - just to see what she says!

The way I do my strawberry buttercream is to out the strawberries in a drive over a pan of boiling water for a few mins to soften then allow to cool and then purée them and add to the buttercream, I do add a bit of lorann strawberry oil as well though if I want it stronger. I use jeans recipe for kids cakes, my eldest doesn't like it but the younger ones love it.

Morning.

Cake has been collected and she LOVED it.  I must admit, piping the inscriptions wasn't quite as bad as I'd feared.  Couldn't cut Mary out of paste for love nor money!  Gave up trying in the end and used an edible image.  The image is a bit smaller than I wanted, but after I printed this, it stopped working!!!! 8-O  So I had to make do with what I had.

She loved all the little references - St Paul's Cathedral and the birds, the sweeps' brushes coming out of chimneys, kites.... Phew!

So, I'm supposed to be going to my MIL's for lunch today, but this niggly cough is getting worse.  Not sure if I fancy going.  I'll see.  Tonight I'm making toppers for a dozen cupcakes for tomorrow. x
