AWow guys, very quiet on here today!
What you all up to then?
My lady loved her caka thankfully.
AI have been getting my hair done no baking or anything interesting going on here lol Glad the lady liked the cake nanny
ANo me either chezza, saying that I did just make a coffee and walnut sponge, I know I can't keep out of the kitchen can I?
I did have a restless night, Ioan stayed, and I must of woken up 3 times. chilling now with the Sunday papers.
I don't have any cakes for 2 weeks, until I get back from Berlin, Then I have a cake for the person I made the wedding cake for, her hubby, and they want exactly the same as they had in the 2nd tier, the nutter ganache as they didn't get to have any.
AHaving a lazy onesie day, watching footie on tv and trying to buoy myself up for returning to work tomorrow .
Glad the lady like her cake nanny.
How are you feeling now chezza any better?
AOoh, my favourites, but haven't made them I was in school (I used to be a school cook 20 yrs ago).
Mmm, I love coffee cake but i'm to full to eat it yet as just had lamb dinner.
Me and Sarah are going next Sunday chezza.
AWell not quite the Sunday I had planned. Was "blue lighted" to hospital at 5.30 this morning with chest pain. Just got home after ECGs and blood tests. Luckily no indication of cardiac problems. Not sure what caused it though!!
AOh lynne, that's awful, are you ok now? Bless you take it easy for goodness sake.xxxxxx
Hi all
Nanny, I've been having a lazy day. Apart from emptying the dishwasher and now making the tea, I have done absolutely nothing!
Lynne, I hope its nothing serious!
It's my bestie's hubby's birthday today but I just couldn't summon up any enthusiasm to make him a cake. I might make a small one this week, probably just a very simple, old school type of cake- all BC with piping!

Yay got great feedback about the cake: 'Thanks so much for the cake, it's fantastic!' said the customer. I'm a happy bunny now :D
Lizzy, thanks so much for the info. I manage to print off the paperwork 2mins before the cake was picked up. I'm so forgetful sometimes!
Nanny, looking forward to seeing your bike cake. Wow 10" square is massive. I've yet to make anything bigger than an 8". You're lucky to have all these cake shops at your doorstep.
Loubee, I'll just have to try other companies to see what their quality is like. Who do you use if I may ask?
Roxy, I love the heart cake! I wouldn't worry about the lustre dust going everywhere- people will just assume its part of the design!
Now to top my day off, my friend is coming with her two sweet boys, 2 and 4 year olds. As yet, they haven't developed into noisy little devils LOL
Glad they loved the cake petite. I use a lady called "sweetharts edible cake toppers" she's fab and will make up custom orders, I've only used her for animation cartooney type toppers but I've seen picture ones on her facebook page that she's done for other people.

Thanks Petitecat glad you feel better now you know the customer was pleased with the cake. I'm surprised you haven't done a cake bigger than 8" as some of the pictures you have posted look quite big. I made the heart for my nan's cake using a 6" square and 6" round and didn't expect it to end up as big as it did, it is on a 12" board. It covered pretty easy thankfully.
Thanks Catsmum yes it is a rose for the Karen Davies mould, it was my first time using it. The rose on the side is the second biggest size from the same mould.
My nan didn't know it was her birthday but loved the cake she said it was to nice to cut.
Your nan's cake was gorgeous roxy, I love the rose on it. How sweet she said that as well, I made my grandma a cake for her birthday a few months ago and she was so chuffed she said nobody's ever made me a cake in 82 years.

Thanks Petitecat I will have to decide which size I want but am leaning more towards the pro mat the past few days.
Thanks Nanny, look forward to seeing your cake. I prefer round to. I have never baked a 12" cake except for the pillow cakes but they were easy to cover as the SP just kind of falls into place on them. looking forward to seeing your cake.
Thanks Catsmum I had pock marks with my mini mat and sprinkled a little icing sugar and it sorted them out. I have draw a little sketch on how to make the heart cake.
I'll remember this for future reference roxy great way to make a heart cske.

Loubee, I don't blame you, it does cost alot for quality ingredients, he is lucky to pay so little, if you weren't making cakes he would have to have prepared to pay alot more.
When I my DIL'S in Oct (The cake with the cards on) my son insisted he pay me or I wasn't to make it, I felt awful it wasn't the normal price but I had to take money for it, I blame the Army, fiercely independent he is.
Thanks nanny, yes you're right it did cost a small fortune for the ingredients plus it was all coloured fondant and I'm too lazy to colour it all myself so had to buy pre coloured which isn't cheap. I did say to them if you want to get quotes off other cake people you can as I knew they'd quote loads, but they said they were happy to pay it.
That's nice your son offered nanny and gave you money even though you didn't want to take it, I think too many people think just because we are cake makers we have to make free cakes for every birthday or family occasion.
Fab bike cake nanny I bet the recipient loved it. I think I need to invest in some impression mats as they really do finish the board off nicely.
Kathy your back sounds painful and I'm sorry to hear about your bereavement.
Catsmum - hope you are ok sounds very scary.
Kelsey - what a cake that's fantastic and the cupcakes are fab too. Well done you've done a great job.
Talking of pretty witty cakes I've been a member of it for over a year now and really should go on it more often Ive not been on it for months, if I'm honest I forget all about it most of the time.
Maisie I hope you are ok lovely, things can only go up from here.
I better get off here and go to sleep I'm up in 5 hours it's my first day back in over two weeks, luckily I'm only working til 12pm so that's ok.
Morning
Glad the lady loved the cake Nanny, I bet you can't wait to get away for a break with Sarah next week.
Chezza hope your feeling better and the pain in your tummy isn't anything serious.
Catsmum hope your ok and it's nothing serious. Take it easy and rest.
Maisie hope your feeling better and your cold hasn't passed to Leah so she can go back to school.
Fab cake Kelsey love all the colours.
Thanks for the comments on the cake Loubee, bless your grandma 82 before anyone made her a cake. Makes it even more special that you made her one.
Kathy hope your back is a bit better today.
AYes roxy, just saying to John, wonder what i'll be doing this time next week, trying to find a decent cuppa no doubt, as we havent got brekkie included, grrrrr. But it will be nice i'm sure.

Not long now nanny
Haha Nanny what are we like, we can't go abroad without going mad for a cup of tea. When me and my mum go away we take a pack of tea bags and a travel kettle in our suitcase.
Chezza maybe you should speak to the doctor before you start to do exercises just in case it is something and you cause more damage.

Never thought of that roxy, but trying to get a drs app is like winning the lottery lol might book an app for next wk or the wk after if it's still sore tomorrow (won't be able to get a emergency app).
Morning all,
Chezza, hope you are feeling better today x
Lynne, how are you?
Maisie, how are you too?
Kuushi, fab cake!
Loubee, how nice that your grandma finally got a custom cake just for her :)
Yay back to normality for me today! Mia's teacher said he had no idea that I was the 'cake lady' of the school, ahem lol. Seems they liked the cake and cupcakes. Next year I'll make a mixture of vanilla and choc rather than all choc cakes.
Right off to do my errands! Have a good day folks!
My doctors is like that Chezza even when in the past Angel has been really bad in the winter with her asthma they wouldn't give me an appointment, I had to take her to the walk in clinic who went mad that the doctors hadn't seen her and had to give me inhalers for her.

Same here when Mia was ill (rash and vomiting) the day before my op they wouldn't give me an app so I spent almost 5 hrs in the walk in centre with her, you sure it's not the same drs lol lol

Lol I think most of them are like that now Chezza.
That's true most areas are over populated with people nowadays and there aren't as many drs surgeries as there used to be either
Hi guys.
Missed a gazillion messages again. I've been a bit rubbish at keeping up recently. Sorry!
I hope everyone is well.
Builders started work on our loft conversion this morning... eek! I'm excited and scared in equal measure!!
Happy caking!!!!
Suzanne x
Suzanne, hope the build goes ok. Are you turning the loft into a bedroom or something else?
AHi everyone
Hope everyone had a fab Xmas and happy new year to you all.
Will do the catch up first, then a wee bit of me !
Nanny crikey you've been busy with all your cakes ! They are fab as usual I especially love the meerkat one!
Kathy were those your shoes ?? They looked fab !
Sugarluva what a great minion ! I'd love to try one !
Maisie wow great wedding cake and of course they loved it why wouldn't they ! BTW my Xmas cake went down a storm with my mums colleague asking me how much I wanted per slice - lol ! I just gave her some ! Hope you're ok I'm sorry your not having a great time, sending hugs x
Petitecat glad you got good feedback on your photo cake I thought it was a I cell neat cake!
Roxy also loved your nans cake as I'm sure she did. I will try to do a heart like that for sure next time !
Suzanne building starting eh good luck with that!
Kelsey hello hope all good with you ;-)
Well I'm in the same boat as Maisie not had a great start to new year and even had drama over Christmas with family ! Anyway won't go into family drama as it's such silly tbh. Our boiler broke on new years day and had to cough up for a new one the day after.. that had to come out of our extension fund (the extension we haven't even started yet!), then our drains got blocked and now the third thing is out loft is leaking condensation through our bedroom ceiling ! Huff ! So sorry I've not had time to get on here but something was always cropping up, also work been awful to boot and quite frankly it's a wonder I'm still sane !
Got a lot of cakes coming up so I must get my act together!
AJo, when it rains it pours eh!!! Poor you what a nasty start to the new year. Hope things improve for you x
AJo I suppose the best way to look at it is that at least you have a fresh boiler for when the colder weather does hit (you know there is way more to come this is Britain after all lol), I hate family dramas hope all is sorted out for you soon
