AMorning all. :-)

Jo I love your leprechaun! He is unmistakably a leprechaun, whoever he's for will be delighted!

Sarah I'd put the 6 inch cake on an 8 inch board. You can put a bit of non slip mat between the board and the box if you're worried too. I delivered my giant cupcake with a bit of non slip mat under the board in the footwell of the car and another bit of non slip between the board and box. Same for my football shirt which was on a 16 inch board. They didn't move an inch.

Good luck loubee but I'm sure you won't need it. :-)

Poor Suzanne. This cake has given you grief hasn't it.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, in a rush this morning. Gave a good day everyone. Byee.:-)

AMorning all, hubby's off so I'm being dragged out for a kwalidee breakfast at Toby and don't have time to type much.

Poop! Ruddy copyright! Just had an email back from WB saying nope, I'm not allowed to make a wedding cake with the Batman logo on :/ Cant say I'm too surprised, but I really wanted to make this one!

They wanted a half/half light and dark cake, one side to be white and weddingy, the other to be black with a city skyline and the Batman logo. I'm hoping they will still go for the cake, sans logo though!!

Have you looked into copyright tiddy? When we were getting plans printed we went to a printer run by a very talented graphic artist. He did a lot of dc comics stuff and had researched copyright extensively, and apparently (this is from memory so you'd need to double check) anything from the old comics is out of copyright. So, my thought is, of the batsignal was slightly different back in the day, you could use that version safely. Just a thought.

Hello lelly :-) Like kelsey I've now got the Lelli kelli time in my head, so no way I'll forget your name :-D love your frozen cake - figures take me ages too, and I'm apparently a professional! :lol;

Love the leprechaun Jo! He's so naughty! I am very disappointed that there wasn't one stereotypical Irish saying from gray though;you know' that's a lovely leprechaun to be sure to be sure'. Honestly, when is that opportunity ever going to come up again! :-D

Maisie your day sounds brilliant. I'm so pleased you relaxed into it, and that you're going again. Twice!

Got to go, hubby is hungry :-)

Mel - I use Lorann Red Velvet Emulsion.  I used it for my Macmillan cupcakes and it was great.  I used a buttermilk recipe and the taste was good - if you like that sort of thing (I'm not a chocolate'y person).  Anyway - we all had red tongues!  :-D

Thanks for the info Tiddy - just let us know when.  Will you be having a black Friday event then?  (:-D)

Lelly - forgot to say I loved your Frozen cake too.  I often check this thread on my phone and it needs sending out to pasture really as I can't keep up.

Busy day - doing 200 invites for our staff dinner & dance - and the exciting bit - who wants to sit with who :x

Kathy

Morning Lizzy, have a lovely breakfast! I have looked into it as much as one can with googles help, and as far as I found out, Batman was DC Comics, which has since been bought by Warner Bros so they now own the rights to all DC stuff. I have to say I didn't find out anything about old versions, but I figured going straight to WB was the simplest way to deal with it. And it wasn't a suprising reply, just a shame as I really wanted to make the cake.

Ooh Kathy not tried any of the Lorann stuff (was it Suzanne who said don't go near the cream cheese one?) Is it a colouring and flavouring? I'll have to google it. In terms of filling I'm just going to do vanilla this time, although I'm interested in the sound of your cheesecake one Gray, that could work well......hmmmm.....might have to try that in my test run cake......! :D

As long as the cake is stuck to the drum with BC or ganache it won't budge icon_smile.gif

I just don't know how she's going to carry an 8" box with a fruit cake inside on the train home. She's planning to go shopping, so will probably have other things to carry (and have to change trains!) I thought my husband would take it over there at some point in December, but then everyone else decided to change things. My husband keeps telling me it's not my problem and we'll work it out, but it's a bit annoying when you spend time and money on these things and it feels a bit like people don't care. I'm sure it will work out, but just feeling the xmas stress at the moment!

Thanks for the advice Mel & Maisie. I think my instincts were telling me that a 6" board would be a recipe (ha!) for disaster. Will check out progels - I keep seeing them mentioned on here, so must be good!

Gray im so pleased you like him too, bought chocolate money to go on top and have a black pot to make. The main cake will be a green hat with buckle round the base. Not sure how it's going to pan out yet ! Regarding the tiny white gray - you haven't seen my sausage hands have you ???!!! It was hard enough for me doing this eyes..I might try though :-)

I've missed loads already this morning ! Loubee have good good day.

HAHAHAHAHHA!! This really cracked me up!!!

Kathy, I don't envy you having to sort out the table places! Won't you be naughty and put everyone where they shouldn't? Spice things up a bit! :-D

Sock, perhaps a 5" cake on a 6" board?

Jo, fab leprachaun! Try a tiny blob of white paint on the eyes, although sometimes you need two coats!

Right off to do cakey stuff. It takes me forever to finish anything, and it doesn't help that my SMBC failed last night! I KNEW that tiny amount of egg yolk that went into the syrup should have been fished out, so now I'm paying the price and making another effin batch...

See you later folks x

Lol I totally missed an oppertunity there!! ha ha

Jo for the little white bit you get a big sausage and roll it into a really fine point, you then hold the sausage with one hand, a sharp knife in the other and touch the point to the moistened eye then cut the little tip off :) works a treat

what a good tip Gray - I have been cutting tiny discs using a piping nozzle then trying to place it on the eye, more often than not they end up looking cockeyed! lol..

Whatever you do, don't use Sugarflair poppy red. I did and it came out a horrible dark, dusky red colour.

Speaking of colours, what's the best brand for colouring sugarpaste? Do you just need a little bit in? I've never coloured sugarpaste before, but thinking of doing a very pale blue/green colour for my xmas cakes. When covering a 6" cake, I'd normally put it on a 8" board, but my mother-in-law is insisting on picking it up via train. Would it look rubbish if I put it on a 6" board and 6" box? Am I likely to squish the cake at the sides.

Mel - I think it was you who asked how the chocolate wedding cake was going a couple of pages back! So much chat, I can't find it. I spoke to the couple and they think that not everyone will turn up, so it's probably ok to go for 75 really. They really liked the designs too, so I'm feeling a bit less stressed about it now.

I love the leprechaun, Jo. He does look like he's upto something, like drinking a pint of Guinness on the sly. Tiddy - I'm a bit late, but that bus cake is fantastic! I used to work for buses at Transport for London, so have a soft spot for them.

I use a 10 inch board and box for a 6 inch cake. Allows for 2 inches either side of the cake and it's less likely to be damaged enroute. I do this as standard with all cakes.

Maisie - knew you would go down a storm with the kids. So glad you are going back - they will be so looking forward to you.

Jo - you have excelled with that gorgeous leprechaun. Dying to see the finished cake.

Gray you will just have to come over and pick the SP up in person - you know we are all just waiting for an excuse for a get together! Beware though - you better bring Mrs Gray over for protection from your harem!

Chezza-very pretty cake. The blue is a lovely shade.

Tiddy - know it was ages ago but that bus....wow!

Bummed about the Sugarflair Poppy Red - just bought it last week.

Well done Mel on getting the "preferred supplier". That should be good for business.

Where's Marvel - anyone heard from him?

Welcome to all the newbies.

Well just about to hit the M1 for trip north to visit Mam for the weekend. Now do I stop off at the Cake Decorating Company on the way up. As it is only 5 miles off the M1, I usually use it as an excuse for a "nature break"

Don't worry, the worst is one of two things, you pick it off if your jot happy or you can cover it up again with a little black. It's honestly easy. My way is get the teeny bit of white, tiny bit of glue on brush and then pick up dot with the brush and transfer to eyes.
