Has anyone cut a 3mm cake board before? Bought one to cut to a number one shape, but it's VERY thick...

Yes - me.  We got the wrong size board for the top cake in my avatar.  It did cut quite cleanly but was a slow job as I recall.  I think I had to use poultry scissors.

I thought of doing it with my number cakes but I ended up putting rhem direct on the drum. It would of been too awkward to cut and then try to seal the cake cards.

Lovely cake tiddy.

Siany, I didn't think the cake cards needed sealing because I've seen cut edge cards (where the edges are exposed) being sold?

Maisie how's it going ? I'm going to do a loopy bow with spirals on the top of my zebra cake. Bow been drying since earlier and I'm going to place the zebra print on like you said maisie, but should I place bow on then put black on or black first or then bow ?!

Hi Chezz - that looks like a .

Jo - I was looking on Ebay for something the other day and I saw a zebra onlay - if you google it you will see the item.  It might give you a starting point for how to lay up the stripes.

Kathy

Thanks Kathy I will do a bit of Google tine as that's the last bit to do !

AJo I would put the stripes on first if I were you, the bow will just go on the top of the finished pattern then.

Haha! Were you all wondering if I'd chucked my cake out the window?! Only nearly! It's taken me ages to ganache it! I ended up finishing it off )the curved edges and under the arms) with my finger. It's not brilliant but I've gone back to it so many times I'm in danger of spoiling it if I don't stop now. I'm dreading putting the SP on now.

Siany that gingerbread house is lush. :-)

Siany love the gingerbread! Was just debating today if I should do some :) still have lots of led lights left so may do some if I get chance, just for home though! I've still not had chance to catch up properly and can't scroll back on this phone grrr!

Spent this arvo trying to do a cake sketch, mainly to work out the colours :( A two tier hatbox style for a 60th but she wants purple, navy, black and pink. Think I've finally got something im happy with but boy was it tricky getting those colours together well lol

Will look lovely Nanny :-D

Haha Siany! Trust me I sketched that and yes good in head :-? so now I have....Bottom tier Purple with navy polka dots, pink lid with purple and blue stripes around the edge. Top tier pink with purple and navy blue stripes and a purple lid all tied up with a navy ribbon and bow. The stripes will be different widths and on top will be a black 60! Undecided on a black or white board as yet.

I know it probably does not look good in head but on paper tis mental :-D She was very certain that she didn't want the lovely pastel shades that I suggested and also gave me free rein . This is clearly for a very groovy grandma so I shall give her a groovy cake

I swear that if my husband doesn't stop being so pig-headed, it's gonna end in the bloody divorce court!

We had to get a new kitchen light fitting.  Had I realised that all that seems to be available are those HIDEOUS GU10 bulbs, I'd have kept with the old fitting that was almost melting and kept blowing bulbs!

I don't care how ****ing energy efficient the new bulbs are (currently have LED bulbs in there) I HATE the light they give off.  I mean, HATE IT.  I feel it sucking the life force out of me.  They hurt my eyes.  It's almost like I can feel myself turning evil under them.

He says I'm just working myself up over nothing.  But if I'm sensitive to this light and he isn't, then I am the one who should be catered for, surely?

AAw Suzanne I'm really with you on that one. My kitchen light is bad but my bathroom one is even worse. I'm glad it's that way round cos I spend more time in the kitchen but I can't stand either of them. Yes you should be the one who's catered to. I'm almost afraid to say cos you sound very angry but he probably, genuinely thinks it's no big deal. If it doesn't affect him he probably doesn't realise how horrible it is. My bathroom light flickers, except it's not quite a flicker. It goes brighter, dimmer, brighter, dimmer but it's almost imperceptible. Nobody else notices it. They al think I'm imagining it. Gives me a headache it does. Does anything wind him up or go through him or drive him to distraction? Anything you can compare it to to make him understand?

Tiddy that cake sounds good. I love navy and punk together.

Cakes are for tomorrow nanny. I've finished my friends and my stepsons is just waiting for SP and grass. Slight problem cos I used the last if my icing sugar on my friends cake but it's not due til 5pm tomorrow so I can get some in the morning. I didn't have a clear plan in my head for my friends, wasn't even sure I was going to make her one tbh. But she's my best friend, she's having a bit if a tough time time and I haven't seen her for she's so I just fid it. Only a giant cupcake, started this afternoon, finished half hour ago. I'm a ninja now too! No? Ninja turtle then? :-D Are you pleased with yours then?

And jo, how's yours coming along?

You lit are probably all finished and I'm still up with an upside down kitchen, 1 1/2 cakes and no icing sugar! Hmm, maybe less ninja turtle, more ninja tortoise!
