Sockmonkey, been there done that, had a crap life when first married , 2 kids, no money and lived with inlaws, not a good start to married life!

Have faith in yourself and what you believe. My quote of the day, my favourite of all time.

A
No Sian it was this one: http://www.lindyscakes.co.uk/2009/06/22/chocolate-mud-cake-recipe/
Haven't made it but that is a seriously wet recipe and no real raising agent (only 60grm self raising) the one I posted is good. Rises nicely, may crack a bit but not as much as I've seen others. Personally it's not a recipe I would use, I know it wouldn't work how I'd want it to. I'm going to try PB's at the weekend. Jeans just done it and it looked good :)

AThanks Sian. I'm sure this was the one everyone recommended on UK bakers clan unless I have clicked the wrong link. I thought it was a very wet recipe but it seemed to work well and it came out looking lovely. Oh well, will try another mud cake recipe next time.

Nanny I think I am going to have to wing it with this cake. I really don't have time to rebake tomorrow. If it was for someone else I would stay up tonight late and redo one but I have a really early start tomorrow and it's only for my brother so I'm sure will can patch it together. I'm interested to know what it tastes like too, I'm just worried it's not going to be tall enough now.

Ho hum, I'm off to bed now and will tackle the beast tomorrow. Night!

ASorry to post and run earlier, I've had a busy day. I also thought I was having a bad day but I've just read tiddy's post.

So sorry for your loss tiddy and sorry to hear about your dad. I hope you get to see him soon. X

Very pretty snowflake nanny. I like your favourite quote. my favourite is "a little bit of help is worth a pound of pity." And I very much like the prayer of serenity too.

Kathy you didn't upset me in the slightest. And I concur with chezzabelle and sock monkey, it's sad that other people feel the same as I do but I do feel better knowing it's not just me. :-)

Kathy, Siany, nanny and chezzabelle, I'm ok, thanks for asking. The funeral was for a family friend. I've known her since I was 8 and lived in the same street as her for a few years when my son was little. She had a brain tumour about 6 or 7 years ago but they operated and she had radiation I think and got rid of it. Then she got bowel cancer. She was only 54. Very sad.

Sugarluva that happens to my mud cake all the time, from what I've read it seems to be a common problem. I've seen the fudge cake recipe recommended before, come to think of it, it was probably Siany when I was having problems! I will say that I stuck one back together like a jigsaw and it was fine, I ganached it, covered it and delivered it and it didn't move.

I'm off to bed now, I'll be glad to see the back of this day. Night all. :-)

Diamonte not diamond, still the same I guess, incase your wondering they are all cut out separately 7 in all the I attached them all to a round disc, abit time consuming if you had to make loads, but just experimenting.

Gorgeous Barbara.

AMorning all.

Your right Maisie, there's always someone who has worst than you. I see it everyday in my shop, I listen to people's probems then I realise my little aliments are nothing , they bug me but real they are nothing. I don't know how pepole cope with things I real don't.

Thank you Lynne, I made about 4, they do look lovely and probably on a navy cake like the one he had on his stand, they will look lovely. I looked at that tutorial posted on here about the sea Holly, I made the inside just to have a little go more than anything, I thought the demonstration flower was gorgeous.

I spent all last night making make up to go on sat's cake, so fiddly.

ATiddy, very sorry to hear about your Aunt and your dad. Grasp the time you have with both hands as you can't get it back.

Maisie hope you have a better day today.

Kathy I did survey too.

Roxy, thanks for the info on the sea holly. The back petals are easy enough and I follow what you said about the centre but there is a tiny micro cutter to use on the centre somehow. When I bought it I asked if there were instructions included and she put in a bit of paper. Some instructions.

"Push the cutter into the paste and move it round the board to help it cut, then lift the cutter upside down run your finger around the edge of the cutter to make a good clean cut. Then create your masterpiece with your beautifully cut out piece of paste."

ALynne it was only for the inside, the cone, think roxy posed it on here a page or 2 back.

Glad I wasn't the only one to feel like you, Sarah bought me the shoe kit, on display at £15, the pretty dark haired girl showed me what to do, then I realised they was no heel mould, do you know what she said to do? gobsmacked, she said to mould your fondant around on of your own heels, I looked at her in dismay, and said, no, you can't do that in the end I had my money back, or Sarah did. And this was the Cassie Brown stand, wasn't convinced at all.

Oh Sian - that's quite shocking!!!  I must say I bought something the other day on a best offer basis - I hadn't even realised I had done it.  My husband said - "oh your offer was accepted"  took me ages to work out what it was.  Anyway, that's how I am now getting some Xmas tree moulds from China!!  I am so relieved I put the decimal point in the right place....can't imagine what would have happened next.

Have just realised the micro cutter you are talking about is not in the set with the rest of the cutters so those photos are probably no help at all. Go to her website and contact her and ask how to use them they should provide instructions as you have bought the product. I think they may possibly go under the base of the middle cone from pictures I have looked at.

Morning all!

Maisie, Don't ever feel the need to defend yourself. Ever. Your daughter needs you. That's all there is to it! And if you think about it, we're all carers in one way or another- just so happens your daughter is much more dependent on you xxx

Good news- hubby is out at 11am for a meeting in Leeds. Yay. Out of my way for a couple of hours with no interruption from anyone! I am rather apprehensive about carving the details out for this car. Argh. Wish me luck!

Maisie, hope you're ok, missed that bit about the funeral x

Nanny that's a lovely snowflake.

Tiddy, sorry to hear about your Aunt and Dad. I can't imagine what sort of emotions you must be going through xxx

Crikey Siany, it's a good thing ebay stops at certain amounts otherwise you'd be in a bit of a pickle lol

Sugarluva, you can always make your cake taller by putting more filling or torting it into three so you have two layers of filling. Lindy's choc cake is ok, but I wanted a mud cake that wasn't so crumbly. Try Paul Bradford's- its very dense and hardly any crumbs. His batter is very runny and the top does get very crusty but in my case it doesn't matter because it will all be carved off (and straight into my tummy). I'll let you know more when I start carving in a minute.

I saw a great tutorial making a shoe without moulds the other day. You form the heel by hand. I am going to try it soon, maybe when my new onlays arrive so j can try them together.

I would report it to ebay and PayPal as not as described and they refund the money to you and raise a case with the seller. If they want the item back they can pay return postage.

I got the damask, the Fleur De Lis & one that doesn't seem to have a name but it's kinda a cut out circle one.

Yay! my cake frame has just arrived, the 14" square board was missing so I phoned them up and they said they were not happy with it so have changed it slightly, the manufacturer is remaking them but I should have it in the next couple of weeks. I have to wait until after xmas to be able to play with it as it's a present off Mr Roxy but so excited.

My mini mat just arrived to so I might try that out later, no instructions with it so will have to watch the video first.

I have finished my Olaf and added hands to elsa here they are, I am really pleased and quite shocked that firstly I managed to make them ad secondly I am happy with them.

AOh and my ebay mistype I would of just cancelled the order lol. I bought shoes the othe day by accident, not even the right size, I just emailed the person and told them I had somehow managed to order them in error and could I cancel and they cancelled it for me. I had so many people do it to be in the past as a seller, there's nothing you can do about it, you can't hunt them down and make them pay so what's the point. It's just part of ebay.

Siany, I sold some of Mia's shoes and other stuff on ebay once. I lost track of what I was selling and noticed that one buyer hadn't paid for the shoes, and this was 3months after. I emailed to say 'Oi pay up' in a nice way of course LOL. Got an email back to say it was a mistake made by his daughter who had used his account to buy stuff. I asked him to return the shoes, and he said he hadn't received them. When I checked, he was right, I still had them in my cupboard whoops  haha. I simply cancelled the transaction with ebay, otherwise I would get charged for the listing whether or not the buyer pays.
