Sugarluva that's a fab cake. Did you write everything by hand or did you get edible images?

Tiddy, whoa new family to meet! How wonderful that they were able to find you and get in touch!

I've been feeling quite tired today, my allergy kept me up all night- runny nose and all that. I've never been like this before and I'm going to see the doctor about it next week. I think its dust mites as I wake up with a runny nose and then last night as soon as I lay down, same thing. Grrrr

To cheer me up I decided to get cracking on some cupcake toppers

Isn't it annoying when you upload photos on the laptop only to find they're blurred??!! Hmph! The christmas pudding one isn't complete, waiting for my holly leaf cutters- 70p from Amazon can you believe it?

Thanks Jean. Everything is done by hand I haven't used an edible image yet.

Love the cupcake toppers, that's such a good idea to get ahead and start making them now. There's I always so much on my Christmas to-bake list!

AEvening all. :-)

Bye tiddy, have fun. X

Bashini I admired your beautiful, smooth cake with the board on top method. I've been nipping on but too busy to catch up and comment. Anyway, when I just saw your pink and green cake I was so impressed with the sharp edges and perfect finish. I was thinking "how do they manage that, mine never look like that". Then it occurred to me it's the same cake isn't it? Maybe that's my problem, maybe I'm not getting my bc/ganache smooth enough and that's why my SP looks like an elephant's put it on and a hedghog's smoothed it!

Sugarluva that turned out brilliant, you must be delighted. I think the board makes it too.

Nanny I love it! Maltesers are Leah's absolute favourite, or chocolate balls as she calls them. Happy birthday Richard.

Sorry if I've missed anyone..... Oops, nearly! I love those toppers Jean, the wreaths are my favourite. :-)

I was going to apologise to anyone I'd missed but say at least I remembered everyone's cakes, almost forgot yours Jean!

I've had a busy couple of days but the good news is my mam is much better, my auntie is brighter and my grandad seems to be doing well in the care of the frailty team. I spent my tesco vouchers today, doubled them up and put them towards Leah's iPod and a treat for myself........... A new Hoover! :-D sad isn't it?!

AMe too nanny, I've been running just to stand still some days! Can I pick your brains nanny? And anyone else who's still up. I've got lots of birthdays in November some I want to make a cake for, some I have to. I don't want to not make the ones I want to make cos the ones I have to make are taking all my time. I was thinking about small cakes for everyone, all decorated the same. Something suitable for my 20 year old niece, 40 odd year old best friend and 80 odd year old next door neighbour. The dates are 17th, 22nd and 25tg. Trouble is my stepson will be 18 on the 22nd so I want to do something special for him. I don't even know where to begin. I'm rubbish at flowers and figures and even worse with time management. In top of that I've got so many things on my calendar already I haven't got two consecutive days free in November.

What about something like this Maisie and you could make the bows and any lettering in advance, maybe do different colours for each person if you wanted them a bit different.

AThat's a pretty cake Roxy. Maisie do you remember my last minute cake for three people? I made little things that werw special to each of them and put them on the board. You could do three cakes that way.

AMaisie also thank you for the tips on the zebra stripes, I will definitely look at a picture of a real zebra rather than the cakes. I think last time mI fixated on looking at others cakes trying to get mine to look like that so maybe that's where I've gone wrong.

Linda that's lovely to hear about your mum feeling better and being out and about fingers crossed this is the start of some relief for her.

Beautiful cake Victoria, very neat.

Mel hope you hear from the hotel soon if the problem is eating the cake on premises then look at trying other options such as local bars or pubs or even just providing a sample box for them to take away to try at home I know it's not ideal but may be a way around it.

Oh my god lindor cupcakes I've made cupcakes decorated with Lindt buttrcream and a Lindt ball on top but putting one inside a cupcake - genius sorry I can't remember who suggested it now.

Sockmonkey your cupcakes look lovely.

Nanny love the anti Gravity cake I want to make one of them. They look so effective.

Bashini love the ganached cake I aim to be able to do one like that one day

No that's not strange at all Kathy I'm exactly the same as I'm guessing most of us are on here. I ordered a progels turquoise yesterday and it has just arrived, looks a lovely colour hoping to use it on my mum's frozen cake in a couple of weeks.

Roxy. I used the rainbow dust pro gels for my daughters frozen cake I used turquoise and Ice blue and I was really impressed with the outcome of them, here's a pic

Fab idea about the cake cases in the jar Tiddy I will definitely use that. Cake cases take up for too much room in my cake cupboard.

Thanks Loubee I'm glad I got the turquoise now I was gonna get the aqua one.  It looks great in the cake, my mum hates coloured sponges though so I will only be able to colour the fondant sadly, it would look better with the sponge coloured to like yours.

I just found it on google kathy mine aren't that neat and tidy lol.

ARoxy I've just been looking at cakes like that on Pinterest! :-D I was thinking a gift box type cake. Or maybe a small cigarello cake with chocolates on the top. I know I've done that before but making so many in such a short space of time is not a good time to be trying something new. I've got 3 hospital appointments to take various people to around that week possibly four if my grandads scan appointment comes soon.i've got a funeral next week too. That's without my stepsons cake.

Yeah good idea Kathy, I could probably think of stuff each of them like but I'm not good at making things. I need time to make things, lots of time! My friend would adore one of your shoes, she's shoe mad, I have actually seen her feet bleed but she'll still keep the shoes on cos they're lush!

Most welcome loubee. I could make three zebra cakes actually, it would use up my leftover black SP! My friend would love that. Possibly not my neighbour though. My niece would but she's seen the two I've already made so it wouldn't have as much of an impact.

Thankyou all. :-) I'm off to bed now I think. Night night. X

Agreed Maisie! :D

For reasons of comfort we shall be taking my car which is a tiny citroen ds :(  but I can always leave Mr Tiddy behind to make room!

I have seen the AT scheme before and if they didn't want £7000 for the privilege I may have been tempted! :o

But...all is not lost as in the new year you shall be able to find my ninja channel on youtube :D :sssh:

See above :-X

I do recall the whole edible glitter fiasco! Can't believe there are still people getting away with selling mank :?

Right cake peeps a question....for those that make your own modelling chocolate....I have today spent two hours scouring Tesco, waitrose and a few other places for light corn syrup :x  I know I can buy it online but can it be subbed? Golden syrup...Glucose? and does it work ok? Been wanting to make some since forever and can't get the stuff anywhere

I used golden syrup and have used melts and proper chocolate with equal success.
