AFantastic news Kathy, I can imagine the relief you must be feeling.

Jean that story about correcting your daughters friends work made me laugh. Reminded me of when we had a piece of work to do at school and we had to make it look 'old' (coffee rubbed into it, slightly burnt around the edge etc). My mum had become a dab hand at it and had done about 3 of my pieces for me so a friend asked me to do hers. Gave it to my mum, she did everything exactly as she had with mine but when it came to burning the edge the whole piece just went up in flames! She lost her whole work (this was before we used computers) and I had to go into school and tell her the next day! Funny now but wasn't at the time!

Kelsey were still eagerly awaiting pics!

Yep :D We were going anyway, but I found that before buying tickets so I'll take it for a win!

Not sure if we're doing the full weekend though as I don't think my mum will be able to have the kids for both days now.

You're doing both days aren't you? I can't remember who else is doing what though, I've got the memory of a goldfish sometimes!

AOhh Suzanne I am originally from borehamwood, well bushey growing up the. Moved to b/wood for 13 years before moving here. I got to the London colney sainsbury all the time. We could meet for coffee :)

Kathy I haven't read all of what's been going on but have got the gist of it and so pleased you got good news :)

Kelsey hope you loved Rome

Want to catch up more but got to go row with my daughters head teacher now. The saga of the rubbish pre school ages teacher she has continues. She threw a sucky of Friday cos she really hates school. Yep, my 8 year old daughter pretended to be ill so she didn't have to go school. Livid!!

I'm channeling my inner Tiddy today as well as I have to ninja a cake so if you could send me some of your skills Tidds if be everso grateful :)

Taking a break from housework. It's very warm today- I'm sweating! Although I think because I try to avoid housework whenever possible, I find it surprising how hot I get when I do do it :D

Thanks everyone for all your well wishes - you are such a lovely bunch!  Means a lot.  Sian - good luck with the head teacher - no matter how many times I took them to task over my kids, I always got this "shiver" when I was waiting to go in - must be a relic from the past, where I was terrified of my old headmaster!

AAw Kathy that's brilliant news, so relieved for you. :-D fingers crossed for Mr Kathy now.

No nanny, haven't been to the dentist yet, tried to get an appointment one spare day I had last week but they didn't have one. I'm ok with the dentist until he wants to descale them (or whatever it's called) I hate that, I'd rather him pull them out than have that done.

Nanny have you got a smartphone? I use mine all the time, very rarely get the laptop out anymore. I find them quicker and easier than laptops or tablets.

Welcome miapie, lovely cake, sorry for forgetting you earlier.

I don't mind split infinitives either, they come naturally to me actually, maybe cos I'm welsh and it's just the way we speak. Nice to know they're acceptable now anyway.

Good luck Siany, with the school and the ninja-ing!

Sorry if I've missed anyone, I'm a bit frazzled, had a phone call from my grandad this morning, he's not well so I've been up there all day.

AMaisie, sorry grandad is unwell. Hope he feels better tomorrow. Just spoke to mam and told her you and your mam were asking after her. She was very touched. Not so good today - had family visiting yesterday which in itself is good as it distracts from the constant pain but she finds she is very tired next day. Her skin is so sore and that isn't showing any improvement as yet.

AOooh back to chatty on here it seems LOL! Much better than tumbleweeds, although harder to keep up with!

Been feeling rubbish this weekend, awful cold just drained me! Luckily seems to be a short lidded one though as I'm feeling better. Lots of TLC from hubby helped :)

Oooh Kathy, yay! That's fab news! Will keep everything crossed for Mr Kathy too xx

I've lost the plot with who's doing what at the moment, I'm really sorry if I've missed anyone out! Lovely to see you back Kuuushi, hope you had an amazing time!!

Lizzy, how are things going with your builders, have they finally started sorting things out for you yet? Such a shame you couldn't do that free fair :/

Sugarluva, Oooh I'm so jealous you are off to NYC soon! Can I sneak in your case? :) I can't wait to go back, we did so much already but there's still more I want to do, and places I want to go back to! We had the yummiest breakfast ever over there and I regularly get cravings for it LOL!

Such a shame they couldn't fix your tablet Nanny, definitely add that to your Christmas list x

Tiddy, your post about turrets make me choke on my Lemsip and started a huge coughing fit I laughed so much!! Cannot wait to see the finished cake! Did you say you were doing a Halloween one too, or was that someone else?

Ooh and Jo, fab cakes! Love the 80's one, the pink tier looks fab how did you do it in the end?

Hope you get an appointment at the dentist soon Maisie. I'm with you, the polishing thingy is way worse than anything else.....shudder.....!

ARight here I am with a pen and paper trying to catch up! !!

Thanks for all your kind comments on my cakes. Mel I had to buy renshaws fushia pink for it as the neon (although sent twice supposedly) from classicool via eBay didn't turn up ! I actually got on well with it ! Sorry you've not been well x

Loubee re the tappits I pretty much do what petitecat said. I add tylo to sp that is gumpaste right ?! I leave it rolled out thin on the side for about ten mins begore tapping too. My twister writing was however much quicker and was sketched by hand on parchment and then cut - I was chuffed how it turned out.

Catsmum sorry your mam still poorly x

Maisie thanks, and yes I used to record the top 40 and remember recording my friends and my version of Madonna ' s vogue on the ghetto blaster !! Sorry to hear about your grandad - everyone needs to get well soon it seems xx

Kathy bless your heart you must be soooooo relieved, very happy for you x

Relznik my week is going to be worse this week as only working three days as have booked Friday off for yet another ruddy frozen cake to do by Sunday - we are away on Saturday to celebrate my friend who I did the bow cake for 40th and my hubby and my wedding anniversary. So stress levels will be high due the very increasing pressure of doing two people's jobs !

Siany hope you got on ok at the school ??

Tiddy wow wow wow ;-)

Right sorry I disappeared  she loved the cake :-D she also loves a good chinwag and then dinner etc etc lol

ok so pictures are not good trust me! The boards are three 12" stuck together :o so now you get an idea of the size...the base cake was also 6" tall which you also cannot see from the picture :???:

The roof was made from panels of pastillage and the lower was supported with the pillars, the upper sat back on the cake more to support it but also had plenty of royal  They were then covered with sp slates which i rolled through the good old pasta machine cut with a knife and once in place shaped :)

all the little shuuters were royal iced into place as was the fencing and the spiderwebs etc in the windows i painted on

Now I SHALL reveal exactly what I charged for this cake but first......what would you have charged :D It took me 2 days to decorate.

Maisie, yes I have a good phone, but it's because it's small, much prefer my tablet. Hope your grandad is ok.

I really sorry if I don't mention ppl, it's cos I can't see the post properly, so used to a bigger screen.

AOmg thatthat's even bigger than I thought! Right hum... price... wildly guessing that ingredients and materials are roughly £125, labour at least £10 x 8 hrs x 2 days= 160. So far that's 285 then add another £50 for baking etc. That cake IMO should be 350-400 at least if my guessing is correct!!

The one of me from behind is me standing in the doorstep of our apartment! Just to show you how close we stayed to the colosseum!

I had an amazing time and spent soooooooo much money. My god Rome is well expensive. Nearly choked paying 3€ for a pint of milk!
