I'm not sure whether ticking a box will give the same feeling of euphoria and relief that crossing the whole damn thing through does.  But we'll see!

AG'nite Mel. :-)

Don't think it would be as satisfying Suzanne, I mean, where could I use my highlighter!

Kathy is the mould in Mel's link the one you use? I'll check back in the morning cos I'm off to bed now.

Night all. :-)

Evening all :)

Suzanne, I love your jewellery, it looks real! Now I want to play at making some!

Your anniversary cake is lovely Tiddy, they'll be over the moon with that

Have you list nutters (that's my affectionate term for you :-D) tried Google Keep? It's brilliant, you can link it with other people, so if you're out shopping they can add to the list while you're out. And, for the real OCD part of you, when you tick an item off, it not only ticks it, it also crosses it out and moves it down to the bottom of the list.

Maisie, you're back!!! Helloooo :D Hubby is in IT, and he reckons he says that more than anything to the people he supports at work  Well, that and 'is it plugged in/turned on' - no really, people are that thick!

I finished my slipper cake, and hubby drove it about 45 mins to meet halfway with his friend for it to be picked up (he's such a sweetie). He's just had a text from him saying '*my wife* fu***ng loved it', so I'm more than happy with that! Just hoping her dad likes it now!

I hope you're feeling better Kathy? I know what you mean about getting going in the dark, it's not pleasant is it. I'm definitely a night owl not a lark, I much prefer being up late than getting up early!

How did your day go Mel? Did you get everything you wanted to done?

AHiya everyone, what a night, what went wrong went wrong tonight!

I'm sat here its 12.55, I've just sat down, my cakes went tonight, I burnt the first lot as Sarah was on the Welsh news, the 2nd lot were a flat as pancakes, 9 oclock I went to Sainsbury to buy more, 3rd lot, just crumbcoated, and I'm off to bed.

Did manage to finish one cake for my colleague in work, 60th birthday. I am pooped.

AMorning!! Wow 2 early starts in a row, hubby thinks I've lost the plot :-D

Hi Lizzy, Oooh I forgot you had your gorgeous slipper cake this week ;D ! Pics?? So glad they loved it, I'm sure the Dad will be over the moon if that was her reaction! Hmm might have to look into this Google Keep thing, DH is a nightmare for forgetting to tell me what he needs on the shopping so that might come in handy.......

I got most of my list done, I should have 2 finished cakes today so on track with that. Decided against adding the silver to the cake, would love to but am worried it'll be too much and a distraction.

Oh Nanny poor you! Glad the last cakes behaved for you, hope you aren't too tired today! Seems like the cake gremlins are at work this week! :/

Time for breakfast!

Forgot to say earlier, whoever made the racing car, I thought it was really good. Cars look extremely difficult to me, not something I'd want to attempt tbh.

I'm with you Suzanne, I prefer the first three cakes (especially the red one, it's quite stunning) for a communion. The 007 one is amazing, is that a bow tie round the base? It is when I look at it whether it's meant to be or not! My stepson was James Bond mad when he was younger, he'd have loved something like that. I love your jewellery, they're all beautiful but the silver bracelets are my favourite, they remind me of the Tiffany heart charm bracelet that I just adore!

Lush cake tiddy, so glad you were well enough to do it, they're going to be delighted. I'm probably bucking the trend but I like the middle tier best.

Chezzabelle go back through the photos in this thread, nanny made a brilliant Star Wars cake. It was quite recent so you won't have to trawl too far. It's really unusual, I really loved it.

Have you made your fruitcake yet jo? I'm dying to know what you think of it.

Kathy, out of curiosity, do you sell your shoes on their own or are they always on cakes?

Just saw the Star Wars cake it looks great, nanny where did you buy the pics from?? Maybe I might be able to get away with doing something similar lol but have a feeling my son thinks I am a magician and I can just magic up figures etc.......

Suzanne your jewelery is beautiful. They're going to look fab when they're on the cupcakes.

Tiddy, brilliant cake! It's got the wow factor!

Nanny, oh no poor you! Hope things go better when you start to decorate.

Chezzabelle, if you can't find ready made star wars edible images, you can send your images to companies that print out edible images. Google 'edible images UK' and you'll come up with plenty. Just make sure your images are high resolution :)

Right almost time for school run, then tesco run, then tkmaxx run. School disco tonight for the wee one, and need to get presents for a party tomorrow for two 6 year olds. At least I got 3 dummies covered yesterday (thanks to Renshaws!!!) and also made my cake lace which has dried up overnight and is ready to go on the cake. Hopefully I'll have time to make wafer paper flowers.

See you later folks x

Quickly popping to say "morning"  - got a busy day again at work.  Feeling a bit brighter thanks Lizzy - although put on 3lbs this morning - so that's a b*mmer.  Just the winter "blues" setting in I think.

Yes - it's the Tracey's Cakes mould that I have for the shoes and yes, those are the boxes.  However, we have tried to find a supplier where we could get a price break for bulk as we would like to branch into other avenues of chocolate shapes that would fit in the same boxes.  We have the ideas - just not the supplies!  I can fit the shoe into a 6 x cupcake box but it would look much better in something bespoke.  We haven't given up - got some quotes - just haven't found the right supplier.  Maisie the shoes aren't hard - but they are time consuming.  All I can say is - don't attempt in very hot weather!  My zebra shoe was a near disaster.  The heel started to collapse in the heat while I was hand painting it.  I was lucky that I had very sharp scalpels to hand so managed to tidy it up.  My daughter's Disney shoes ideas are the ones that I think will be popular when we get around to selling.  We want to try to find a way to post them - so when we get suitable packaging - we're going to try to send a couple to ourselves - just to see how they fare.

Oh Barbara - don't you just hate times like that - we all have them.  So why was your daughter on the news then??

Suzanne - hope you got the gems OK?

Catch you all later.

Kathy

AMorning all. :-)

So glad she loved the cake Lizzy, you must've been chuffed with that reaction. Photos?

Nanny why was Sarah on the news? If you'd said I'd have watched it. I don't usually watch telly til after Leah goes to bed. Glad you got your cakes sorted in the end.

Mel I hate early mornings. I'm naturally I night owl, left to my own devices I'd go to bed in the early hours and surface at 9 or 10 in the morning! :-D You saying silver reminded me, asda are selling gold leaf, little square packet, £3. I've never seen it at the supermarkets before, it's with the Christmas baking stuff.

Chezzabelle Nanny's Star Wars cake is probably my favourite out of all the Star Wars cakes I've seen. I just love the colour, the writing around the board, the way the name seems part of it, everything. How old will your son be?

I'm kind too *waves at Kathy* :-D

Nanny, what makes you think you can drop 'because Sarah was on the news' into conversation without elaborating? Honestly, it's like you don't know how nosey we are or something!

Lol Mel, thanks :-D I did feel rather glamorous as I was painting the check pattern on...

Keep is honestly really good, if be lost without it now and I'm not a list person!

You're busy jean! Good luck with all of that running around. I have an exciting day of doorbell hunting planned with my mum. I tell you, my life is just one long party. :-D

Anyone seen kelsey, M4rvel or Gray recently? Or catsmum for that matter?

Kathy - you are an absolute diamond! (see what I did there?)  Thank you SOOOO much for the edible gems.

So, I'm already running RIDICULOUSLY behind today....  I didn't get to bed until gone 2am  - I had the most horrendous tummy ache last night (I have Crohn's Disease and although it's very controlled, it happens from time to time).  When I did get into bed, hubby was on a snore-fest!  Didn't matter how many times I 'shushed' him or nudged him to turn over, he was in snore mode!!!!  So that kept me up until well gone half past.

I've had trouble working out how to do something on the software I use for edible images, so a friend has talked me through that via FB messenger.  JUST sorted that now.  And I have lots and lots on my to-do list, including traipsing up to Hampstead in north London as my 15 year old needs a blood test!  Agghhhhh!  He's still asleep!

So...  plan of action is to get the honey cake in the oven next.

Whilst that's baking, I can make a start on decorating the 6" cake that goes with the cupcakes.  Then, once that's at least filled and marzipanned, if not sugarpasted, I can go up to London with Matthew!

Phew!!!!!

I'm sorry there's too much to catch up on and I'm too tired to type it all out lol

Great cakes though, tiddy love yours. I really like the 007 cake.

Lizzy Bastian is a bit better but was sick again at 11:30 last night (16 hours of no sick the out of the blue as I'm asleep :/) and then he decided he needed to sleep with mummy and cuddle me all night, except he's a fidget and I got a very disrupted nights sleep so I'm knackered again :(

I managed college last night and I have a whole new direction to go on for my cake but I'm torn between Miss Saigon & Memoirs of a Gaisha as a theme. We also did bas relief which was quite cool. I'm off to research lots for it now.

Aww poor dear. Let's hope today is the turning point and he gets well and you get some sleep x

Oooh both themes sound lovely. I love oriental designs and colours. What sort of course are you doing? I can't recall sorry! Just wonder if my college might offer the same or something similar.

No, no, no...  of course I didn't think that.  I agree with you - which is why I showed it in comparison to the others!  We did 'compromise' on the design as the 7 in 007 is usually a gun.  But we left that off!!!!!  I did some tuxedo cupcakes with the cake and they were sooo cute!  I loved those!!

I'm doing city and guilds level 3 sugarpaste award at the moment. It's not actually at my college it now being run in a local cake shops but by my tutor from college last year as colleges are not running it as its £2000 per year (2 years) so she is running just the awards from the shop.

I love the idea of the oriental theme. I love the red and yellow of miss Saigon but I love the striking face makeup from the Gaisha so I'm torn. I also want to do one if the tiers as a vase. Hopefully I can pull it off haha

Sounds amazing I vote Miss Saigon. The red and yellow sunset would make a stunning backdrop with very vivid colours that you could definitely identify with Miss Saigon. I see what you mean about the make up from Geisha though too but I'd love to do a miss Saigon cake.

Nanny, how rude to not tell us why Sarah was on the news?! Pfft!

ARight, half of one cake decorated, the painted one, and I love it so far! Just got to let it dry a bit so it's on to the silhouette next. Terrified of smudging as it's black on white!!

Also just realised due to my change of plan (Grrrr...ruddy Culpitt!), I've covered the floral cake dummy in white when I was going to use ivory - gah! Now trying to work out how I can tone the white down a bit, thinking lustre but I only have pearl. Might have to experiment mixing it with a cream petal dust....

Aw sorry your little one is still poorly and you had another bad night Siany. Your course sounds great though, both those themes sound amazing I don't think I could choose!

Good luck today Suzanne, hope you manage to get a few more bits ticked off the list!

Sorry folks, just a 'me' post, need your advice. The photo doesn't show it very well, but the white of the ribbon doesn't quite match the white of the SP (the ribbon is very white and the SP is off white), and the pink ribbon doesn't quite match the pink SP (ribbon is actually much darker than in the photo)! Which ribbon do you think works better? This is just a cake dummy by the way! Should I get a matching ribbon especially?

APetitecat...I personally think the pink ribbon looks better as it looks like it matches your pink SP quite well.....but it depends on how the colour looks in real life. :)
