AHi

Just a quickie...

Been faffing around all day (no, really... So unlike me, eh?) but have done 6 pairs of earrings.

Remember they're for a 6 year old so I kind of wanted them to look a little bit like dressing up jewellery (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

AAww Suzanne those earrings look lovely, so realistic! The little girl will be so pleased with them. Can't wait to see the rest.

Hope everyone who was feeling tired earlier has perked up now! I have the opposite problem, can get out of bed early in the morning, am so used to getting up at stupid o'clock! But ask me to stay awake at night and you've got no chance haha. Anything that requires me to stay up late and I need an afternoon nap like a child!

I'm the opposite...  I swear I'm semi-nocturnal.  I prefer getting up about 8am and going to bed about 1am-2am....

AHope everyone who's not feeling too good are feeling a little better now.

I'm the same Relznik I'm more awake at night and hate getting up early in the morning. Lol. Those earrings are beautiful and so realistic looking.

Nanny looking forward to seeing the castle cake.

AOk, 2 cakes covered and stacked! Leaving them to dry now so they firm up before decorating (and not at all because I'd like to finish working at a reasonable hour tonight...!) One cake design is set, and shouldn't take too long to finish (the roses and lace). The other I keep wavering over, want to do a black and white silhouette (wedding couple with grass/flower border painted around the base of the tiers), but I've also got some silver leaf I'm itching to try out. Would that look totally weird if I added it to the top of the tiers?

Hmmm, I don't like dummies, am rubbish at finalising a design and sticking to it LOL!

Oooh pretty earrings! A matching charm bracelet would look so cute with those :-)

AOh and I am sooo not a morning person! Today I rather shocked hubby by being up and alert so early, normally I'll sleep through anything and once I am up, I take at least an hour to be something anywhere near human

AHelloooooo! :-D

I have been like a junkie without a fix trying to get on here! My phone has now been repaired, took it to the 02 shop, the 12 year old boy who works there asked me if I'd tried turning it on and back off again, I said no. He turned it off then back on again, hey presto! The look he gave me was a cross between pity and disdain! I felt like such a doofus cos turning something off then on again is usually the full extent of my troubleshooting capabilities. At least I can fix my own phone in future tho. :- D

I've tried to read through quickly but there was loads to catch up on so apologies to anyone I miss, I know I will, seriously, there was loads!

Thankyou everyone who missed me, my lot only miss me when they're hungry, need clean socks or want a lift!

Tiddy sorry to hear you got worse but pleased you're ok now. As ok as you can be, you know what I mean. X

I can't see photos still, just the square boxes, hopefully I'll be able to see them next time I log on, I'm hoping it's just a bit sluggish loading everything.

Hope your little one is better now Siany, there's a lot of it about apparently.

Who was bleugh? Lizzy I think? Hope you're feeling better now.

Mel you've really alarmed me cos I've just bought a 5kg bucket of culpitt SP! I'm dreading using it now. I was a bit relieved when you said you love Renshaws tho, I can't stand the stuff so I'm hoping the reverse will be true with the culpitt.

Hi roxy, nice to see you, I wondered where you were.

I'm also wondering where the boys are. I know grays submarine cake was due in September but it's October now.

Hi K8, it's good afternoon here, good evening almost. :-)

Nanny there's a pop up market in Cwmbran town centre, one of the stalls is selling wooden stuff, door plaques etc. from across the square I saw one saying Ioan, I wanted to go over and get it til I remembered I can't just pop it round to you next time I'm passing! :-D

Hello everyone else. :-)

I will go back and read through again cos I know I've forgot stuff.

AHi Maisie! Glad your phone is ok, I'd be lost if mine broke! DH is the techie in our house :)

Sorry for the scare re Culpitt! But as you said, hopefully you will love it if you don't like Renshaw lol! Wondering if I have an iffy batch maybe, I have used the 1 kg packs before and they were ok. Very frustrating, but I'll stick to my usual from now on LOL!

ASuzanne I love your bar mitzvah cake, I'm sure your next one will be lush but I really like traditional stuff for things like that. Not that I'm an expert on bar mitzvahs but weddings, christenings, Christmas etc. I do love a novelty cake but for religious stuff I like traditional best.

Amazing house Jean, seen it before but it's lovely to see again. :-)

And the chiffon cake? Jean? It looked yummy anyway. Never made a chiffon cake, might have to put it in my to do list.

Aw I knew I'd forget who made what! The earrings? They're lush! I really like the brighter SP knowing it's for a 6 year old. I second a charm bracelet to match btw.

My phone was ok mel I just couldn't get on the internet with it. Couldn't even open my apps. I couldn't believe how much I missed it!

I hope I haven't missed anyone else's cakes, I'll check again later.

Thank you.  I agree...  I prefer traditional for religious occasions.  You can have a contemporary feel to it - traditional doesn't have to be old fashioned.  But I was really surprised when a lovely friend of mine asked for her son's First Communion Cake.

Previously, for her other kids, she'd had these:

But for her youngest, she had this

I'm not criticising - it's just so different from the modern traditional cakes she'd had previously.

My MIL was DELIGHTED that Matthew had a traditional cake...  she's most disapproving of the mostly football themed cakes that I've been asked for! LOLOL!!!!

Right.  Here's the second lot of jewellery.  Hand-piped chain (not particularly well done, but you get the idea) painted silver to match the textured heart (mould bought in Dunelm Mill) and an ikkle edible pearl.

Beautiful cake tiddy, love the colours.

Oh Suzanne lovely cakes!  I love the necklaces - I never knew Dunelm did moulds.....I was only in there last week buying sheets....it was mental in there - thought everything was going for free the amount of people in there.  Whereabouts did they have that?  I like the background colours too - I knew you were debating but I think you've got it right.

Oh Tiddy - that is stunning.  This one is my new favourite!  I have that brooch mould too but that's as close as I get!:-D Absolutely love it.

Thankyou Kathy :-D funny as I have been dying to use the brooch moulds and tried once before with rubbish results so this time i though right...i will do what i should have done last time and pop it in the freezer for 5....that was last night....this morning I remembered! haha! Needless to say that didnt work well!

I came across the dunelm goodies by accident! hidden away in a corner! I was like a kid in a sweet shop when i found them...think i may have actually squealed at the time as my daughter gave me a look

Tiddy your anniversary cake is stunning, really affective.

Tiddy - your cake is GORGEOUS.  Really beautiful.

I'm on a roll tonight, guys and gals!

Number three in the new Pat-a-Cake range of jewellery, LOL!!

This is the multi rose mould from FPC Sugar_craft - which I've found are by faaaaar the best quality and easiest to use!  Kathy, Dunelm Mill in Romford (on A12 or A127) has not a bad selection of sugar_craft, for a non-specialist shop.  Not as much as Lakeland, but...  you could easily spend a few quid on bits!

I've another 2 lots to do....  wish I'd popped out to buy some Culpitt jelly diamonds.  Could have done some rings.

Suzanne I love the bracelets - I have that rose mould - we used the tiny one on the chocolate shoes recently.  I can't believe that I was in that Dunelm branch the other day and never saw any cake stuff.  I'm probably going to have to go back anyway to get some cushions so I'm on the case.  Don't know if I've got any Culpitt gems left - I'll check and pm you if I have some.

Tiddy I found the brooch difficult to do.  I did one on the zebra shoe and I had to make 4 to get one!  The freezer idea is something to remember as when I did it, it was July and boiling hot.

AForgot to say earlier, whoever made the racing car, I thought it was really good. Cars look extremely difficult to me, not something I'd want to attempt tbh.

I'm with you Suzanne, I prefer the first three cakes (especially the red one, it's quite stunning) for a communion. The 007 one is amazing, is that a bow tie round the base? It is when I look at it whether it's meant to be or not! My stepson was James Bond mad when he was younger, he'd have loved something like that. I love your jewellery, they're all beautiful but the silver bracelets are my favourite, they remind me of the Tiffany heart charm bracelet that I just adore!

Lush cake tiddy, so glad you were well enough to do it, they're going to be delighted. I'm probably bucking the trend but I like the middle tier best.

Chezzabelle go back through the photos in this thread, nanny made a brilliant Star Wars cake. It was quite recent so you won't have to trawl too far. It's really unusual, I really loved it.

Have you made your fruitcake yet jo? I'm dying to know what you think of it.

Kathy, out of curiosity, do you sell your shoes on their own or are they always on cakes?

Tiddy your anniversary cake is lovely, the flowers on the top are really sweet! Hope you are ok x

Kathy, Im pretty sure Traceys Cakes sell perspex boxes for the chocolate shoes, I'm sure I heard her mention it as they come with different coloured bases?

Right, early night for me, another long day ahead tomorrow!

Night All!
