AMorning lovely people, I promise to be good today and not lower the tone! *halo glistens like in a toothpaste advert*

Kelsey I'd say ebay small lots would make you more money from the leftovers, especially if they are good for upcycling projects.... people love that kinda thing at the moment.... otherwise you could try one of those shops that bulk buy out-of-date food and such, the ones I know are independant so you have to walk in and talk to them and it would be a rock bottom price but it would get it all out of the way at once I guess?

Got my icing sheets on in the end, some embarassingly bad patch jobs that I need to think about but it looks good I think, better than I could have done by hand as the drawings are so detailed!! and the sub is now stacked on top... just the details to do tonight - if you are all good boys and girls I'll post a sneak peek for you this evening :) don't think any of my family will see it on here :)

gonna be a loooong day today, realy want to work on cake but have to be in work and also just could not sleep last night!.....wondered aimlessly through the house in the moonlight pfft (ok sat on the sofa in the dark with streetlamps glowing in and a cat eyeballing me for disturbing him as I stubbed my toe on the coffee table...)

Morning all!  Blinkin' broke down didn't I this morning in my new car!!!  It's got keyless entry and eco autostart if you are in traffic - Suzanne:  I was in the middle of Cranbrook Road near the lights where the old McDonalds used to be!!!:x  Well somebody made me brake hard and I stalled the car - couldn't start it could I.  It said "no key detected" - oh it was fun and games all right.  My handbags are a tip - I kid you not.  I usually have a ton of cutlery in there (for my lunches!) tissues, receipts, oh and this morning I had some mini cake books to read, plus paperwork, plus my lunch (it's a big bag!).  Couldn't find the key!  Eventually, found it and had to lock and unlock the car - had not a clue if that would even work but luckily it did.  Am all flustered now......  Hate being part of a "scene" in the traffic - people are so rude!

Now having a coffee and scrolling back - I know I'm at work but I feel like I deserve a bit of a break!  Haha - haven't even done any work yet!

Roxy - I missed your ceiling woes - thank heavens it's all sorted.

Thanks for the well wishes for my husband - it wasn't his knee (I think that was Suzanne's husband) he had a large cyst removed from his neck.  As to the credit card incident - we saw it mentioned on the paperwork before he went to the hospital but thought it wouldn't apply - as you do.  We have no idea if they have charged us for anything since there was literally only one nurse left when he was finally discharged!  Everyone else had gone home.  Suzanne - I didn't stay with him by the way - I came back to do my washing and ironing!  No point in both of us having a wasted day - plus we thought he would only be there around an hour.

Barbara - I think it might have been Lynne's mum....????  Think she has shingles poor thing.

Kelsey - you have many strings to your bow don't you?!  (Haha - geddit??).

My little McMillan cupcake toppers just arrived!  They are only rice paper but I think they will make it look more "official" - and hopefully all my cakes will go!

Finally - Suzanne - I think your accent is posh Es*** -  I'm thinking Chigwell! (I was going to say Scottish - don't know why tho'!).:-D

Gray looking forward to seeing the sneak peek of the submarine cake.

AMorning all. :-)

Aw poor roxy, sorry to hear you've been poorly. And a leak too? I bet you wanted to cry didn't you! Glad it's sorted now anyway, could've been worse. My airing cupboard still smells damp from my leak to me. And I still haven't painted the living room ceiling. It's not too bad and in the evening with just the lamp on it's practically invisible!

Love the robot Jean, it's really good, looks painstaking and time consuming to me. When I was living in England everyone said to me my accent got stonger if I was talking to my family on the phone. When you're angry- that sounds familiar too.,and say I'm speaking to somebody Scottish or Indian (or English sometimes) at a call centre, the more I try to slow my speech and enunciate properly so they can understand me the more welsh I sound, I can even hear it myself!

Sugarluva did you find Marvel and Hugh jack man?

I'm going to post this now then go to the next page so I don't lose it again, it's happening all the time, doing my head in it is.

Oh blast!  That's what I forgot to say yesterday!!

Petitecat - your run out is fab!  I haven't done one for ages....  I went through a phase of doing them with no problem, and then went through a period where every single one broke before I could get it on the cake!  So I gave up...  or did VERY simple ones directly on the cake - which is SO nerve racking!!!!

Suzanne you sound English with a hint of a polish accent! :-D see how I got there?!

Nanny sounds like a lovely day you've got planned, enjoy.

Poor Kathy, what a start to the day! Enjoy your coffee, you won't be able to work properly if you're wound up anyway.

Can't wait to see your cake Gray.

Hi Maisie - I found Hugh Jackman and M4rvel!  Main point to note - I didn't know who Hugh Jackman was......sorry!  But now I do!!:-D

Jean - liking the Transformers run out.  I have done similar things in the past using piping jelly - not easy doing run outs.  Looks good.

Oh - and I changed my Avatar to show the brains behind Cake-Days (not me - but my daughter!:-D).  I should now go and do some work......ho hum.

I hope you didn't swear in front of your poor cat, even though it's the only thing that makes a stubbed toe feel better

Your robot is brilliant Jean, however every single time someone has mentioned it I have in my head 'Transformers, Robots in Disguise' in a really gruff voice like the cartoons used to have :D

I'm fine and dandy thanks Nanny, must have been a 24 hour thing! Now if the sciatica would just feck off I'd be golden.

Everyone's had problems with private hospitals on NHS then? I was referred to our local private hospital in December for an injection for my back. I was taken in, seen straight away by a lovely nurse, the doctor came shortly after, was sedated and taken in for injection, then bought back to my bed for a (surprisingly nice!) sarnie and a cuppa. I was kept in for about 4 hours total to make sure I was ok to walk after the injection. Compare that to my poor friend who was sent to the local NHS hospital *on a Sunday!!* at 7am and was left sitting in the corridor (with no one around as it was so early, she thought she was in the wrong place) for the best part of an hour. She was taken in for the injection, no sedation. Despite having a local anaesthetic it was still painful, and afterwards she was left in a chair in the corridor for 20 minutes then told to leave!

The only issue we had was that the sandwich bloke offered my hubby a sandwich and a cuppa whilst I was in theatre. He said no as he didn't have cash on him, but was told it was free so had them. About a month after the appointment I had a bill come through the post for £6 or so. I may have mislaid it , and they haven't chased it. I wasn't asked for cc details before going in either.

I hope everyone's mums/husbands get better soon! We're a bit raggedy on here at the moment I think! Would it be quicker to ask who doesn't have anything wrong with them?

Another minecraft cake Jo? Perhaps you should invest in getting a multi square cutter made ;-)

I've got a windsurfing cake for this Saturday, but I'm not feeling it yet. I think I'll clean the windows, that'll get me in the mood I'm sure...

I think you can get kits lizzy, never done it, but seen them in the local man shop... I bet there's some guides on youtube too thinking about it! I learned how to lift a wooden floor on there recently- I got to buy a crowbar and set the apron aside for a weekend!!

ps I didn't swear I was good :) actually I swear so infrequently that it makes me laugh when I do!! The cat on the other hand did his 'I will open one eye and scowl at you' this is his form of swearing! I feel sorry for him at the mo, I think he's getting a bit arthritic... he takes the stairs one at a time now with two feet together and he mewks when he turns in his sleep :( don't know what to do.... I guess the vet for some medicine really is the best.... poor old man :(

That is just brilliant  I particularly love the full size bottle and stapler, and what looks suspiciously like a mini bottle of booze in the background (although you'll probably say it's perfume :-D) You do know you can get smaller sizes of these things, yes? :D Even your key ring is immense!

Yeah I've seen those Gray, the trouble is we're skint at the moment and buying the bits separately is cheaper (plus the design is nicer than the kit form I found). It just means it's not going to be as easy I think. Good idea about Youtube, I'll get on there and look. What I really want is the glass design one, but it's about £650 so it'll have to wait.

I wish I didn't swear much, but I'm like a sailor (never the c word though, awful awful word!). I don't around the kids, I'm good then. There's a lot of odd words that come out then though - my youngest was in the room a while ago when I really whacked myself on the dishwasher door that I'd left down, and after a prolonged fffffffffff, I ended up saying ffffffffffffridge!!!! He was thoroughly amused :D

Haha that's a lot of stuff to carry around in your bag Kathy no wonder it weighs a ton. I have a small bag just big enough for my purse and keys, phone goes in my pocket and anything else I do without. My mum on the other hand I don't know what she carries in her bag but it feels like she's carrying bricks around, I keep saying it must be her secret millions but she insists it 's just all her copper.:-D

AHaha Kathy that bag is great. A whole bottle of juice? Impressed! My bag is always full of dog paraphernalia, I can pull a dog poop bag from pretty much any bag/coat and any pocket! Any don't even get my started on what is in my car!

I'm sure you could DIY the banister and hand rail thing lizzy. I've seen my dad do it twice in different houses, though not done it myself, and doesn't seem too hard if you use common sense! You can learn anything on you tube... That's the only way I learnt to bake!

Haha - re the bag - I feel a little "light" today actually - I usually have a spare pair of shoes in there too - and trust me - it all goes in!  I once got searched at Gatwick because I had lots of medecines for the kids (pre liquids ban) and I had put everything in so neatly - there wasn't a milimetre spare.  I was so cross that it all came out (I mean they could see it said Calpol....) that I made them put it all back - and they did!  Don't think I would try that again.  My husband was really cross with me at the time for making them do that.  I have behaved ever since though.....

I have just heard that Asda have got ladies Frozen pyjamas in stock....am going out on "business" in a mo to the Asda Post Office.........via the George section methinks!  (No they're not for me but for my daughter!).

Not much of a 'Service' !!! They should just call it National Health. Period. The windsurfing cake sounds interesting!

Kathy, everything but the kitchen sink :-D Staplers are a must I see LOL

ARGH I'm having a stall at the beer and food festival selling brownies on sunday and I've just received an email asking stall holders to display our food and safety certificates and insurance, both of which I've been looking for all feckin week!!! I'm feeling a bit panicky now!!! It's not like I have the time either- I'm baking the Mcmillan cakes for friday, covering a square cake, making cupcakes for the order on saturday, baking the effin brownies, getting a million and one things ready for the stall..

Ours does that Jean. You very carefully put something in that pile there, and when you go to look it's disappeared, only to be found months later in the great 'Clear Out Of the Spare Room', along with vital information about a school trip from last year, and one of the cats.

Ok, I might not be the most tidy with paperwork :D

I hope you find it though, what a pain.

Are you just doing brownies? Is this the one where they have a few cake stalls already? I think you'll be better tbh. I was at a beer festival this weekend, and the cake stall was like a ghost town. Buns, bars, fudge, they were all busy. I think it's cos they're easier to eat. You could do Nigellas Guinness Gingerbread, or her Guinness Chocolate Cake. Yum. I do both of them as traybakes, so it'd be like it's a brownie... :)

So I'm googling "Frozen cake" for a bit of inspiration and came across a site for a shop in the suburbs which has a whole range of cakes (they're not bad cakes) and the prices.  See if you think this is priced right: http://www.thecakestore.co.uk/olaf-cake/?gclid=CP7JhY_q-cACFVNutAodxnEAqQ

I'm possibly not at all up to date on pricing but there are some interesting prices all round.

Well it's London so I suppose that's one add on for cost, and it's massive so works out not too bad per serving *but* the sculpted cakes underneath it are all less, so I reckon it's a brand thing. Everyone wants frozen so it attracts a premium for now.

It's more than I'd charge certainly, and I'm not the cheapest. At least it looks very nicely done!

Kathy - their pricing structure is even more bizzare than mine (which takes several things into consideration...  size of the cake, intricacy of decoration, which the way wind's blowing, what mood I'm in when I quote you...)

But if you REALLY want to see some OTT pricing, check out Jane Asher's website!

For goodness sake, does a cake get more basic than this?

I mean, I charge less than a quarter of this

Suzanne, I've heard of Jane Asher before and her outrageous prices. I think Nanny posted about her? Can you get away with it if you're a former actress with rich friends? Or just because she's (ex) famous and based in London?

LIzzy, Oh God that is good to know, even though this fair may be different (hopefully EVERYONE is busy LOL). I was thinking of cupakes, but there's already a cupcake lady. There's a stall selling cakes, but loaf style- coffee cake, madeira, etc. I had a look at the websites of the cake traders :D There is a  lady selling brownies etal, but I'm the only brownie lady.

I've called the brownie business The Big Bad Brownie- (tag line, so bad but oh so good). Do let me know if its way too cheesy for words, but I'm really lost for inspiration as to what to call it. I thought of the Bad Bad Brownie but big bad sounded better. Eek. It's all gonna be a moot point if I don't find the papers
