Try using this spray called Folex. Wal-Mart sells it, but Home Depot carries it cheaper. It took grease stains out of my carpet, it may work on coloring---Good luck!

Ammonia. If nothing else use Windex as it contains ammonia.
Keep blotting w/fresh paper towels until it is gone.

Try GOOP...get it at walmart or the local dollar store. Its a canister, plastic...used for mechanics hands to remove grease. I use it on my wash for troubled spots. and My carpet when I steam clean.

works great...blot the spot, let it sit for a bit, and then go back and gently rub off. let me know if this works for you. good luck.

It got red food coloring out of my carpet, and off my kitchen floor after 24 hours of me not noticing!

Try Resolve, too, from Walmart or any grocery.

It actually has fixed anything I've ever had to get out of carpet, from cat puke to melted wax.

...haven't tried the red dye thing, though...

oxyclean is great. My husband turns everything pink or leaves a pen in his pants and washes the clothes come out with ink marks everywhere. He will take the clothes and put them in a tub with hot water and oxyclean and let it soak and everybit if the pen marks comes out. I have done this to a wine stain in the carpet too and it worked like a dream.

Try airbrush cleaner. I've never tried it on carpet, but it works great at removing any type of gel, paste or airbrush color - especially from your hands.

You can try Goo Gone, it is a yellow liquid that you put on the stain, let it work for a few minutes, then clean away. Hope everything turns all right!

My daughter got americolor dark blue green gel color (grabbed it when I wasn't looking) all over the floor (tile so that was ok) all over her pink sweater, hands, everywhere. I was sure that sweater was done for - but I just srayed it with shout and dropped it in a bucket of oxy (and it was the generic oxy sun cleaner from dollar general) - and when I took it out the next day to wash it - all the color was gone. I didn't even scrub it. I'd make up a spray bottle of oxy and water - soak it, let it sit a bit - blot with a real absorbent towel and repeat.

my husband says the best thing he has ever used and has gotten many stains out of carpet is polish remover, but it has to be the yellow with acetone in it, it will not hurt the carpet and it will lift right up. Even if its been there a while.

My kids did this in our study (gasp!) with navy food coloring. I steam cleaned to carpet, but just ended up having to rearrange the furniture to cover it. Sorry!

yes, nail polish remover, he swears by it!!!! just make sure that is is the yellow with acetone one. but he says it will work!!!

he said to pour a little on a wash cloth and blot and you will see the stain to lift. then to just rub until the stain is removed. he said you dont need to do anything else, the carpet will be fine. Best of luck!!!

I use Resolve carpet cleaner all the time. It doesn't lift the carpet color off.

Geeze, let us know which one you end up using and which one worked! (I would do a test on a hidden spot in the closet, first.)

merciermom that is so weird to know nail polish remover will remove stains. Does your husband recommend for all stains or just an oil-based stain like the americolor?

Resolve deep clean got most of it out with the help of my steam cleaner. I live over seas so many of the suggestions I just can't use because I can't buy them here(but thank you for helping). But I'm going to try the nail polish tonight.

oh yeah and why am I still alive? Because my husband while in Thailand this weekend pushed one of his buddies in the pool, said buddy had the brand new Zoom mp3 player in his pocket. So we're now out $300 to replace it. He didn't have a leg to stand on.

Unlucky hubby and lucky you!! did you manage to get the stain out? i once dropped a full bottle of red liquid colouring on a white carpet, i tried all the hints and tips, and nothing took it out, one product , A foam product just went bright pink and then spread into an even bigger stain! ha! i ended up getting rid of the stain by buying myself a new carpet hahaha! hope you find something !

Try shaving cream. It gets out nail polish (found that out the hard way) & it's really gentle on the fibres & blot, don't rub!!

I took oil paint out of my carpet with Dawn dish washing detergent. Good Luck!

Go to home depot, there is a product called "Goof off" it works on carpet, it took dry paint off my carpet, this product really stinks but the smell goes away after a little bit... I have really light carpet & you can't even tell where the stain/stains were...
No need to panic, this stuff will work...
