Can you imagine, at the stroke of midnight when they stop hearing bills for the night, knowing that your bill was the next one in line?

Would that put some perspective on all the wasted time?

We will lick our wounds, then we'll regroup. Gattis's office has promised to be in touch about the future.

Next time, we'll be more prepared, we'll have a more solid base of support. We have laid the framework this time.

But please, for a few weeks, let me rest. icon_cry.gif

LOL... rest?!?! Why!?!?

It just blows me away that we have to wait another two years!

I love your attitude, Kelley. Please keep me on your list of supporters. Next time I promise to make as many trips to Austin as necessary and help wherever I can. Thanks again for all your hard work.

How many people could have been helped by the passing of this bill? How many people would have been able to help their families make ends meet if this bill had been given a chance? How many of us could have made their dream come true? I find all of this very sad and feel like it is all a political game. If Perry was able to request a bill be moved forward to be voted on what was that about? Yes it was voted through unanimously through Public Health but I feel Kolkhorst was really opposed to it but she knew it wouldn't make it through the House in time. I am sorry this bill didn't get the attention it needed and the representatives could not see what a difference it could make and how much it would have helped people in this economy. I had to vent as the clock ticks away and the deadline nears. Thank you Kelly for all that you did. After all of your hard work the time management, or should I say the lack of, kept the bill from even being considered. What a shame. What a terrible shame. I am so sad right now.

I also would like to be kept on your email list.

I'm sure after you have had plenty of rest, your mind will fill with productive ways for us to use the next 2 years.

Still holding out hope here because, well we have an half hour for a miracle here and I am hoping still that Gattis has something up his sleeves, but let's face it ladies, the bill doesn't change what we do. I will still do what is necessary to expound on my talent, and will operate with all the knowledge gleaned from this experience. I will not back down, because we already knew that if the bill passed there would be those who would continue the way they have. For some of us, the choice is clear. I have to do what I need to do to make ends meet and bill or no bill, the only option I have is to move forward and continue the path I already started. It's not what I like or prefer, but it's what I can do to help out my household during these trying times, and I'm looking forward to being better prepared next year, have an even larger database of people to call on to help me fight the fight in two years. So, if they thought they weren't going to hear from us, I think they better hang on to their hats - Next time, we'll be even more people, even pinker and purpler shirts, and we'll be so in their face they wont be able to avoid us.

Unless of course, the miracle I'm hoping for comes through, then its on with the program!

I want to stay on the email list too!!

Maybe if we plan right we can all start saving and plan to go to Austin in 2 years and overwhelm them. There will be so many cake peeps there, there won't be any room left for anyone else and we can't forget our rolling pins. icon_lol.gif

I believe that there is no journey that is not worth taking. In any event, we have become very knowledgeable of what to do next. This will not be a loss, only a set back and not even that.

I refuse to back down or quit - that's me - native Texan - Katy bar the door, I'm digging in.

I just read some of the other bills that were waiting with ours and there are some very important ones that really needed to be voted on. I don't understand how they can let any bill die when they only do this every 2 years. I can't imagine why they don't just continue until all of them are heard. Makes no sense to me!

Emails and such to your reps as well as your local media should also be in order. The death of our bill and all these others was largely in part to wasted time. All those Congratulatory Resolutions, welcoming so-and-so to the chamber, asking of pointless questions, being consistently late to start the day, and after each break, and such shenanigans were unnecessary with a deadline looming. In every article covering that bills would die, nothing was mentioned as to the time that was wasted by our ELECTED officials. These people were voted into office to help the people, not congratulate the Johnson's on their umpteenth wedding anniversary. icon_mad.gif

To the pp who suggested an email to those who were the worst time wasting offenders, I say, good idea!

Sorry, guess you could say I'm more than a little angry/bitter since our bill was not killed on it's contents, but rather allowed to die due to incompetence.

Time to yell, scream, cry, and lick our wounds. Like Kelley said, we have a stronger foundation to work off of. And, if anything, we all have a much better understanding of how this all works, so we know what needs to get done to pass this in two years.

Then why even bother with putting them on the calendar. They should have to vote on them if they put them there. IMO

LOL and could you memorialize the moment when you broke the hearts of so many Texas bakers who hoped for the opportunity to be legal.
