So I was stumbling around google just now looking at easy dessert recipes (my hubby's buddy decides to ask me the night before our bible study to make some treats to bring. And I work tomorrow, so yeah.) and I happened upon this cute website. It's a bunch of recipes written by grandmothers. I just love hearing old women talk about how they used to cook (just a pinch of this, about that much of that, cook it in a moderate oven. . .)

check it out. I was just reading on here about how society seems to be getting into the "prefabricated food" trend. It refreshing to read recipes like the ones on this site. My fave quotes are as follows:
"Store-bought cakes were considered too expensive to buy. Besides, they simply didn't taste as good as a homemade cake made from scratch."
"Cake will never be better than the things whereof it is made"
"...as it is the air bubbles imprisoned in the froth which give it its rising virtue."
"Fine cake demands as many virtues of omission as of commission. Indeed, the don'ts are as essential as the doings."
If I ever get my own bakery I want stuff like this written on the walls. I'll not only provide delicious cake, but I'll educate the general public as well! (no laughing now, that is a possible feat!!!)
What a fun site ! I love how they have a page converting the wood stove temperatures for us! Many of those older recipes remind me of my dear grandmother who I miss so much.
Thanks for posting this,
Kristy
Do they still have the newsletter? I used to get it at another e-mail addy, years ago. Lots of old-school recipes. All free.

First and foremost - the power of possitive thinking is a wonderful thing and yes someday when you have your own bakery... (THE SECRET - "What you think about, you bring about" )
Second - thank you for sharing
