I made these the other day and I didn't put a whole lot of time it them, but I have a friend who wants a dozen with her and her husband's initials and a shamrock on them. How much should I charge for these?

If I make Jumbo ones, is that about the standard serving of cake??

TIA,
Tiffany

Adorable cupcake!! What is the green polka dot thing going around it. Is that the liner? Just wondering.
I can't really tell you what to charge, but I think that the jumbo cupcake is bigger than a standard slice of cake. Just my 2 cents. =o)

Beautiful cupcake!

I am giving you a bump because I am interested, too.

I think a regular cupcake is the equivalent of a 2x2 in cake serving??

I am also interested in cupcake pricing. I'm doing and "order" in December (LONG way off!) for a dentist friend. He'll give them to other DR offices as their Holiday gift. Since I'm a home baker, I can't charge, so he's going to whiten my teeth or something silly as a trade out. icon_wink.gif I'm just not sure what the street value (sounds shady!) for fancy cuppies are! Thanks!

I am new to CC and an amatuer baker but perhaps you could sell them in the ball park of $1-$1.25 for a standard cupcake and $1.50-$1.75 for the jumbo. People used to tell me that I didn't charge enough for my baked goods but these are just some suggestions. It really depends on if you are doing it for fun or to really receive a profit and how much of a profit you'd like to receive.

I hope this helps. icon_smile.gif

Hi!

I think a minimum of $2 per cupcake is well within reason.

If you add fondant, toppers, designs, etc., the price should go up accordingly.

HTH!

I live in Florida and we have a cupcake shop that just opened a little while ago, I finally went by today - I had to do a little cake espionage (sp?). Anyway, their jumbo cupcakes are $2.50 - not decorated like yours. They are just regular cupcakes prettied up (no fondant or anything) - cute swirl of buttercream/icing and a little something to show what kind.

Anyway - they are charging $2.50 and they were almost sold out at 3:45. Some are really really good - and some...not so much!

Hope that helps some!

I love them! It brings out the irish pride in me!

I agree with JessDesserts. I would think between $1.50-$2.50 would be good but you need to take into account the decoration. You need to think about the supplies and how long it would take you to do that detail on each one.

If I was you I'd probably want between $2-$2.50 but thats just my oppinion. Maybe if you go lower you can tell them they have a discount because they're friends! Kathy Moore (writer of "Starting a Cake Decorating Business") says price and quality can be related so people may think your cupcakes aren't as good because you price them too low!

Hope I helped Amy x[/quote]

Charge rental fee and deposit. And are you sure the jumbo cupcakes would only be 1.50 to 2.50. How many do you get out of one recipe and how much does it cost you to make your cakes and do you pay yourself for your time? I broke down my cost to make 2 dozen reg size with a doctored cake mix. The cost was about 4.00 for the cake not including the icing or fondant. I think for a small cupcake I would have to charge at least 2.oo. Now for a jumbo, 1 mix for me only makes about 6? I think I would charge at the very least 4.00. What do you think?
