Hi CC

I was searching for a new turntable online and came around this one on Amazon.com.

I have read good reviews on CC re: the heavy-duty FD turntable but does anyone own this model? Is it as good as the heavy-duty model?

The original price was USD$83.99 and is now selling at USD$9.95!!!!

I bought that a few weeks ago when i saw that deal. I don't think it's anything to swoon over. It isn't crappy, but I don't see where the 80 buck price comes from. I could see paying 15 for it.

to me it looks like the plastic Wilton turntable $20 for that would be a rip off

Wow - that does seem like a deal, but who on earth would spend $83 for that piece of plastic - it looks similar to the wilton turntable but just a little larger - I can't believe that would sell for $83 - but for 9.95 how can you go wrong?

Also it's low profile. But that might be nice for cake displaying &/or cutting cakes...hmmmm...

Amazon is notorious for hyper inflating it's "retail" price.

I just got my heavy duty model in today, the one that was selling for $12.95. It's amazing. I want to make a cake just to spin it!

Alison: Was your turntable on backorder? I also ordered one when they were on back order and my order has been sitting idle for three days (they say they're preparing for shipping...) and so I'm wondering if I can actually be hopeful that I'm going to get it?

Yes it was. In fact, they said it would not ship until between Feb 28th-March 3rd. I was quite shocked last week when it said it shipped, but this has happened with amazon before and they dis not actually ship *twitch*. Then I checked today and it said it was due to arrive tomorrow, but it arrived today! I would say you may actually get it!

I found this turn table at http://www.fondantsource.com/lowprtu12.html but it shows that the regular retail price is only $15.99. icon_confused.gif

Makes you wonder.....

While checking out the turntable, I noticed this Ateco color set offer. Is Ateco good and what about the price? Fair? TIA

I've used those spectrum colors before looks like a very good deal. I think the makers of americolor and spectrum and the same, but that i might be wrong on. Still a good product and a good price.

As far as the turn table, doesn't look like a bad price, but if you can lay your hands on the heavy duty one you won't ever have to buy another.
