Attaching Ribbon To A Cak Board Covered With Fondant?

Hi Everyone!
I was curious is someone could tell me how to attach a ribbon around a cake board that's been covered in fondant? I've tried a few different things but have yet to be successful. Could someone please help me out? Thanks in advance!
Hi!! Not sure if there is a better method out there, but I generally glue my ribbon around the (cake board) trim -- it doesn't come in contact or anywhere near the cake itself. I wrap my fondant around the top and rim, let dry for 1-2 days (so no finger prints when you pick up), then glue ribbon.
Here's a few that I have done w/ ribbons:

I love covering my boards... I think it adds a little extra 'wow!' factor to the cake. Hope this helps!!

Are you takling about the very edge that faces out towards you? There is nothing to it. I used double sided tape, works like a charm. Are you covering the edge with fondant too? I wonder if that's what you mean. In that case...maybe a little piping gel?
I cover the board with fondant and then trim the fondant so that it doesn't extend over the sides. Then I wrap the ribbon around the sides- using a straight pin to anchor the beginning and end. Then put a bow on the spot they meet with hot glue.
Then put a bow on the spot they meet.
Ditto to that.
I always use a Prit Stick glue (non toxic) and have the join at the back of the cake.
I nearly always cover my boards with fondant and think it looks really neat.

On my last wedding cake, I let my mother in law go to town with the board and she used her hot glue gun and put the ribbon on it for me. It stayed tightly and I layed my fondant on the board after that. No one is gonna eat the fondant on the board and if they do it doesn't have glue on it. I think that was the best method!!

I do this too..I find that getting the fondant around the corners make it more difficult to move the cake, specially with bigger tiers, and it can crack easily.

I cover the board and then cut away the excess with my spatula so that it doesn't overhang the edge.
I attach the ribbon several ways, depending on the cake. I use decorative "hatpins" quite a bit. I've found some that have beautiful crystals on the ends, etc., at floral supply shops. I just pin the ribbon thru the 1/2 inch foamcore (I generally cut my own decorative boards from it). I've used scrapbooking brads---they come in all shapes & colors. If I want to glue the ribbon on, I often use glue dots (found in the scrapbooking aisle).

I do the same, I use pins with coloured heads
Thank you SOOOOO much everyone for all the great ideas! It seems I was making the mistaking by covering the sides of the board with fondant as well. I will certainly try do omit doing that and adhering the ribbon just to the board itself. Thanks again so much! Love this website and how friendly and helpful everyone is

I usually just pin the ribbon at the back to the board, always pull the ribbon really tight though. I find using glue and other methods don't always leave you with neat results. I've also just started using a site called www.bakingit.com which you might find useful. When working on larger cake projects I would always buy too much ribbon for the job and have scraps left around. This site helps me calculate how much I need which has been a great tool.
