Could someone share with me how to make the fold over hang tags that fit on the little bags? I have seen many on this website and love to know how to do it. Thank you!

Maybe others do it differently, but for bag toppers I use cardstock cut to size and then print and glue stick the label part on and staple/glue dot the whole thing to the bag. Hmm, for some reason that was hard to explain a really simple process Let me know if it doesn't make sense and I'll try again! Andrea

Another CC member directed me to the avery.com website when I had inquired about a similar need. That site had lots of ideas and products you can use on-line to create some really nice tags. I ended up using the small tent cards (I think it is product 8820?) to use as toppers to my project. Hope that helps.

i made the fold over tags and glued it with a glue stick but the tags fell off...any suggestions??

I make them myself with cardstock and cut them with my Silhouette. To apply, I use double faced tape. HTH

I do them all by hand, time consuming...but not too bad if you set it up like an assembly line.

I use the bags that are 3-3/4" wide for most of my cookies, so I'll base the instructions off of that.

Generally I want my label to be about 2" in height and just slightly bigger than the bag, a sheet of scrapbooking cardstock/paper comes in a 12"x12" sheet so that works perfectly. I cut a 4"x4" square out of the paper (this gives me 4" in width so it's just 1/8" bigger than my bag on either side, and also gives me 2" in height if I fold the card in half)


Doing it this way I get 9 labels out of 1 sheet of cardstock (for which I pay about $.50)

Then I take that cardstock, fold it over in half, and staple it to the cookie bag (with cookie already inside and the top of the bag folded over or sealed w/ a food sealer)

Then I cut another 4" strip of paper in a different color, and this time only cut it 1" in height, and then cut the edge w/ decorative scissors (this covers the staples and adds a decorative edge) This gets affixed to the previous cardstock label (just over top of the staples) with double sided scotch tape.

And then last but not least I print address labels at avery.com with a message of the customers choice and affix the label to the cardstock.

I charge $.25 for a bag for the cookie
$.25 for the cardstock on the cookie bag
and $.25 for the avery labels........so If you want just a 3" cookie, you pay $1.50 ($.50/inch) if you want THIS 3" cookie below w/ the bag, tag, label, you pay $2.25/each STILL a good deal if you ask me! lol

If you have a word program and a paint program, you can customize them yourself. (there are free versions of both: openoffice and paint.net)

Get your cookie ready in the bag, take a piece of printer paper and figure out the right size you want for your bag then cut and measure. You can find a template for the approximate size here:

It sounds like a lot of work at first..but once you get everything setup (label/picture and insert into each space on the template)...all you have to do is print and cut. You can bypass the address labels and print it directly on the cardstock. Buy 8x11 cardstock, walmart sells white 110lb weight and it's a nice weight but you can also find different weights and colors online or another store.

The pic is a 4x2..that's basically 2 x2 when folded...then you place it in the word document and print..then use scissor/decor scissors or a scrapbooking cutter
