Im going to start fondant soon.Just been looking at the "pricey"
fondant supplies at certain craft/food stores. I know there must
be substitute supplies that I can get at the hardware store or/and
have at home. Can some one tell me what they are? Would be so
pleased.

Look for a thread entitled, "Your Best Kept Secret" or something like that. Last I saw, there were more than a dozen pages on the subject.

Depends on what you are looking for - some of the things you can't get subs for. But, I use clay equipment a LOT. I have clay sculpting tools, clay gun, imprint mats, molds, etc. I use the Sculpey (?) brand because it is cheaper. Also, play-do stuff works well. Paint brushes from the paint section. Hmmm...silicone cookie sheet for modeling and other small things. Pizza cutter, dough cutter...I also use a lot of things from the scrapbooking department, believe it or not. Paper punches, etc. Some beading tools. Get creative. Go to Joanne's see what is on clearance and you never know what will jump out of you and you'll say "Hey! I can use this for....." HTH
