Help!! I Need To Dry Gumpaste Fast!!
Decorating By thelittlecakehouse Updated 6 Dec 2008 , 2:12am by thelittlecakehouse
I made gumpaste numbers (50) to put on top of the cake 4 days ago. I just dropped one!! The cake is due in 8 hours!!!!
What on earth can I do to dry these numbers fast??
Food dehydrator will do it or you can put it in the oven woth the light on and the door closed but it will take longer that way.
In a pinch, I have placed my gum paste on a cooling rack and used a fan on high beside it. It worked for me.
I have also heard of some people using a dehydrator to dry.
I'm sure others will have more suggestions for you.
Good luck.
Toni
I've tried the fan and it hasn't worked nearly as fast as just putting it in the oven with only the light on. It will dry super quick. Once they begin to set up (assuming you have the numbers wired so they will stand up), you can stand them up in a cake dummy and put them back in the oven, they'll dry even faster.
Remember next time, always, always make extras! I have learned this the hard way
