I LOVE music. I especially cranking up the tunes when decorating. What do YOU listen to? My current faves are: TI- Whatever You Like and Akon- Right Now. Just anything with a good beat and fast tempo.
Fun thread!
I like the TV on, or - much better - old movies that I've seen a dozen times before, so I don't actually have to watch, just listen! My favourites: X-files movie (the first one, the last one was rubbish), Legends of the Fall, Star Trek First Contact, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Shaun of the Dead, BBC Pride & Prejudice (this is good for a big job!), any Harry Potter. Also some old British comedy series. Quite a mixed bag!
Otherwise I have the radio on, usually something talky.
I'm planning my basement kitchen, and a small TV/DVD is on my list!
espnradio.com is always a good, except I pay too much attention to whats being said then what I'm doing.
i actually have an IHome installed underneath my kitchen cabinets and crank up a mixture of everything.... although Bon Jovi gets me in the decorating mood!! among other things.. ha!!
i have spiritual music, rap, pop, jazz, show tunes, country, contemporary etc.. all on my ipod and i love to belt out a song when i mixing.. ha.. im surprised i have been arrested by the neighbors..
hey fun...there is this great local band called A Good Fight, and they really get my creative juices flowing!!! Otherwise its whatevers on my playlist which is just about anything!!!

Being closer to the D than you are it's mostly 97.1, or 1130. that is mostly Lion talk. So that can be ignored. LOLOL
Now I'm getting in the mood for some Hump do the humpty
Mike
Well to get me in the ZONE im gonna have to say I love me some Brittany Spears, Christina you know girl rock type stuff oh and lets not forget Pink she rocks to...lol
As long as it's upbeat it keeps me going along with an energy pill I'll go all night unless of course the kids are sleeping. If I making something detailed it has to be smooth music....melo. But otherwise crank it baby!
Well....I listen to ANYTHING 80's especially Madonna and Michael Jackson LOUD! BUT that could be why my cakes are wild, cluttered and just plain NUTS Music is GREAT!
I need just music, not songs, otherwise I loose track of what I am doing.
Love that smooth jazz, 98.7 for any Detroiters.
I like the mellow stuff to keep nerves calm - Coffeehouse all the way! (Well, with a few other styles to keep it interesting).
Colbie Caillet, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Paolo Nutini, A Fine Frenzy,
Sara Bareilles, Leona Lewis...
I have Direct tV which has all the different genre music stations.....I crank up the 80's music because I know all the words to every song.
I use the satellite stations too, but I really love to listen to Adele when I decorate. She's really great, kinda Jazzy pop ish?? lol You have to hear to understand.
I listen mostly to alternative stuff - Fuel, Three Days Grace, 3 Doors Down, Saliva - are my favorites along with Christian rock groups - Red, Since October, Disciple and Pillar. These bands pump me up and keep me going, even when small disasters attack . . . and they often do!
I listen to TV, programs I don't actually have to watch so usually some political type of comedy show like The Daily Show. Not much fun now that the election is over though.
I mainly listen to 90's grunge...Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP.
When I get bored with that I put on some Red or Pillar.
As long as its hard, fast and LOUD I know my cake is going to turn out great.
I take it in spells, but right now it is LeeAnn Womack. The other week it was the Eric Clapton Cream CD. Who knows....tonight it may be Allison Krauss and Union Station or The Isaacs (gospel bluegrass).
Sometimes I "watch" DVD's like Friends, Lost, and the BBC's Pride and Prejudice too. When it comes to music, I have a nice eclectic mix with the Beatles, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Led Zepplin, and CCR to name a few. A good 1/3 of that list is taken up by the Dave Matthews Band. If I'm lucky and DH takes the kids out, I crank up my Dave Matthews Band Complete Weekend on the Rocks and pretend I'm at the concert.
I heart Dave.
Well, at this time of the year, I love to listen to Christmas music!!! We have a radio station already playing it (well, sort of--their website). I never, ever tire of Christmas music-it puts me in such a good mood.
I love to listen to Gospel music....it helps put my mind at ease especially when i'm doing a cake that i've never done before. I ask God to anoint my hands and bless the cake/dessert that i'm making. Because I believe that thru him all things are possible and the gospel just gives me the strength i need when i feel like giving up on a cake!
I like loud motivating music. If DH happens to be on his laptop while I'm making a cake we have a tradition of him playing "If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake". Last weekend I had to do about 4 dozen cookies and he played "C is for Cookie" instead. :p
I like to listen to "Salsa" music or any music with a lot of rhythm to keep me going and to dance a little to relax the muscles while taking mini breaks...
Channel 805, "Eighties on 8" on direcTV.
yeah..yeah..yeah,...that's the one!!!
I usually pop in a dvd that I have seen a thousand times. My favorite and most inspirational dvd is the Lord of the Ring trilogy. It's either that or Sex and the City...I just want background noise. And since I have seen them several times, I don't have to pay close attention to them. One day i'm going to do a cake inspired by Rivendale.
I also have Sirius. So if not that my Ipod and I rock out to Octane(Heavy metal). I love listening to Metallica, Theory of a Deadman,Fuel, Red, Taproot, Etc. Also the louder and faster the better.
Country all the way for me...and mostly old stuff...Hank, Waylon, Loretta and Randy Travis can sing me through any cake disaster lol.
