Hey everyone!! I am also from Lubbock. I found this thread about a week or so ago and couldn't find it again (because of the problems with the site)! I am glad it showed up again!! This is a neat way to meet others in the area that LOVE to bake and decorate!

Hey all...Hope you're having a good Friday. I am still dealing with a sick kiddo. We may be looking at surgery next week icon_cry.gif

Today I am working on a birthday cake for tomorrow. I am attempting my first ever fbct. I tried a "test" one last night and it didn't turn out so well. Any advice??? My outline went ok, but when I started filling in the outline, the outline would move around and mess up the lines. Do I need to make the outlines larger? I used a tip #1 for the outline with medium buttercream. Do I need to use thin or medium bc for filling?

Anyone, please give me some suggestions?

Thanks,
Kim

OH NO! I hope your little one feels better soon! It is certainly no fun to have anyone sick and even worse with it's the little ones!

OHOHOH! I know about FBCT! I LOVE them! First off, you need to use the right BC. The regular BC hardly works at all, if ever. Here's the link to the right bc:

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-1602-ButterCream-Icing-for-Frozen-Transfers.html

Now, Use prolly a tip 2 for the outline and the fill in too. Equal lines etc. Don't run your tip thru the frosting just kind of behind it...I think. Make sense?

like this kinda:

Thanks Diana. We got some blood work results and xray results back this morning and they are good. thumbs_up.gif Now we have to wait for the sonogram on Tuesday morning. Luckily, my son is almost 15 so he's able to explain what he's feeling, which helps, but I still feel so bad that he's hurting. He's been sick since Thanksgiving day and been in bed practically the whole week too. icon_sad.gif I'm so ready for him to get feeling better, not to mention all the school he's missing right now. thumbsdown.gif

I will go make the different icing and see if that helps. I'm not sure I follow what you mean about the lines and not running through it rather run behind it??? Also, do you freeze between your outline and fill?

thanks,
Kim

Yes, Angela. I lost my baby Leyna. We've had her since she was 4 days old. I know she was old and hurting but it's never easy to lose a pet. Especially on the heels of losing our other one. It's been a bad year for pets.

Cola,
I'm pretty sure I am too late to help, but I couldn't think of a better way to explain it. I have one coming up pretty quick so I'll take a pic. Post a link to the one you did!

I am off to work! I have four cakes due tomorrow. Not sleeping tonight icon_sad.gif

hi diana, well i am sorry for sure for your losses.

wow four cakes!! no sleep, not good, hehe! thats what cakes do to us tho!, icon_biggrin.gif

have anyone on here ever made a princess crown from fondant and gumpaste or just gumpaste. i have seen a few on here, but no instructions. maybe i will pm janH, the superhero of links on here and see if she has any threads she might know of.

off to bed. tired and sleepy. rough day.

hey kim i hope everything is ok with your son. what exactly is it he has??? my son had vacerital reflux, its spelled wrong, but i am too tired to look it up at the moment. so my son had to have surgery last year and they reimplanted his ureters. it worked ok, but his left kidney was still holding some urine, so we were suppose to this past week, but it was rescheduled for jan something. so thats why i was curious. ok well.... sleepy weepy... zzzzzzz.............

hehehe are you talking about the crown. i was asking cuz i needed help, hehe. i did it but i only used fondant. it was for practice. it didn't really come out the way i wanted it to. i will finish it up today and take a pic and post it. if it dries up enough. i didn't use gumpaste in it, so i don't think it will hold up like i want. which is ok. just a practice run. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif hope everyone has a great day!! icon_biggrin.gif

It's Martha. I am so cold I don't want to even look outside. I had to go get my child from school at midmorning. The nurse called me because he had a tummyache. There were still icicles on the fences and my car was covered in ice. I think that will be the only outing for me today. I don't like cold weather. So how are you all?

I didn't realize there were this many people on this site from west tx. I always see names from up north. It's nice to know there are many decorator in our area. Keep warm guys.

Oops! Sorry! I tend to give everyone nicknames! I think it is a side effect of being around kids all day. Everything is sing song and ryhmes.

We didn't hardly any ice. Just the few puddles that accumlated from the "rain" we got. I actually have my AC running. Of course, I also have my oven on too...and am cleaning...maybe that's why!

Martha....Welcome to our little group!!! I have been enjoying this cold weather...as I use to live in Alaska and it reminds me of it.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have been sick since Friday, same virus that my husband and son had. Speaking of my son, he had his ultrasound yesterday, got the results today and he has to go for another test tomorrow...a nuclear test! He thinks it's funny that he'll be radioactive for a day... icon_eek.gif Hopefully the results will be good, or else he'll be spending his Christmas break recovering from surgery... icon_cry.gif

What is everyone making this holiday season...goodies??? I'm hoping to make my usuals....millionaires, fudge, cookies, chocolate covered buttercreams, and hoping to try some new recipes too. I'm also going to do some dipped pretzels...at the request of my dh.

Oh dear! I am SO sorry to hear that your families are not doing too hot. I sure do hope they feel better soon!

My house has been CHAOS! My two youngest nieces are staying with us for now. Their parents are useless. So we went from two kiddos to four; my son- 10, my DD- 5, my elder niece- 5 (today) and my younger niece who turned 4 on Dec 9th. The younger has some medical problems. I am not sure I can handle all of this. My DH had just about lost his marbles. At what point do you say enough? I mean I am not helping their parents, I am doing it for the kids. I love those girls but..I dunno..maybe I am being selfish.

Sorry for unloading on you all. I just needed to vent. I am going to go finish the three cakes for tomorrow.

wow diana thats alot. you are doing the right thing. if the parents are not taking care of them right. is their anyone that could care for them? i ask in case it gets to be a lil much. especially with one having a medical condition. a four and five year old is alot, but at least they are not still in pampies. i think if you were to say you can't do it diana noone would hold it against you. if anyone has anything to say as in your family, let them talk. they are not the ones who took them in. so whatever for them. you can only do what you can do. best of luck with that situation!!! icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

Hey everyone. Hope you're keeping warm this morning.

Diana, I hope all is going well with the extra kiddos in the house. Angela, I hope your little ones are doing much better.

Just wanted to let ya'll know I go great news yesterday. My son's test results all came back good. No surgery needed and everything looks good. They aren't sure what was causing the problem, but since he is feeling so much better, we are hoping it was just a bug of some kind!!!

I feel so behind with everything that has been going on. I have soooo much baking to do for the holidays. Hope everyone else is doing good.

Have a great day.
