I saw the neatest cake here and didn't get it saved, now I can't find it. It was a gift cake, but not like the ones that are just tiers stacked on top of each other and fondant bows on it. It was very wide at the base and looked like many boxes of different sizes stacked all over, like an actual mountain of gift boxes. PLEASE, PLEASE if anyone knows where it is, post a link! I want to show it to my nephew as a possible idea for his wedding. I think it was really sharp looking and that it would be such a fun alternative for a less-than-traditional couple! TIA!!

Melvira I liked this one:

I've seen a few with white gift boxes that remind me of wedding gifts.

Oh my gosh you guys... I lost this thread and couldn't find it! I'm so sorry to not respond after you went to all the trouble to try and find the cake I am speaking of!! I'm sorry if any of you thought I was being rude! icon_redface.gif None of those cakes are specifically the one I was speaking of, but they are all gorgeous and I thank you so much for helping!!

The one I can see in my head specifically that I loved was just different. It wasn't all stacked straight up, it was like 2 or 3 stacks of gifts all together. I don't know if I'm even making sense... maybe I should try to sketch it out a little and see if that strikes anyone's memory. I don't know how I managed to not save it already!! Ergh! It was just the neatest looking thing and not overly traditional, which fits my nephew and his fiancee perfectly. (No, I'm not excited about this wedding at all! Hehehe!)

Anyway, if anyone has any other thoughts, I appreciate any links, etc. And I promise I will try not to lose this thread again! It's just been one of those months! Hahaha.

I would be very surprised if you were thinking of this one, but it's a great one from ICES 2004--and if I can find a picture of the other side of the cake, it's completely different--has like a drawstring type package among other beautiful things.

Yes here's the other side

Edited to say and I should have made this clear already--that's not my work but I have always loved loved loved this cake. It's just a dream to me. Hats off to whosoever birthed that baby.

k8memphis, that is an incredible cake! I can see why it's a dream. I would love to be able to produce one similar to that!

melvira, or this...

Is there anything else you can remember about the cake other than a mountain of gifts?

Oh my gosh, those are all amazing! My head is just swimming with ideas! All4cake, I know... I know... this would be so much easier if I could describe the cake!! dunce.gif I can see it in my head perfectly, but when I try to describe it, the details elude me. For example... I can't recall if it was teal and brown? I have this strange feeling like it was, but that could be absolutely wrong! I think I'll try sitting down sometime today and sketching something. Maybe that will help me remember! Ugh! I'm starting to think I'm losing my mind!

But thanks everyone for the efforts... I am getting some great ideas here!

lol...I know what you mean! I thought maybe if you could remember if it had a bow, a ring, was it stacked or assembled seemingly in a precarious fashion, various sized packages, was it for a wedding, a birthday...I'll keep looking....

I don't mind looking through the galleries...after like the 30th or so page(typing in different key words), I begin thinking..."oh, gosh...what if it's one of those that the owner didn't add any key words????" laying there...waiting for a random passer-by.

Oh I know, tell me about it! I started getting the sinking feeling that there weren't any key words on it because none of my searches turned it up. I keep trying to find the right way to explain how it looks... I think I'll have to try and draw an example. I can't find the right words that make sense.

How long ago about did you see it?

When you seen it, was it with new uploads?

Perhaps this was a website you saw on-line? Perhaps this decorator is right here on CC and this is what you saw? This is supercool:

It's called "A Whole Host of Gifts for the Bride and Groom" It's a beautiful, stunning presentation.

Oh man fiddle, that one is cool!

Ok, let me try to explain it... I think the majority of it was square cakes, but there might have been some other shapes... on the bottom I think there were 3 cakes making almost an L shape(?). I remember the big thing about it was that is was HUGE, very wide at the bottom and I think they said they had the base specially made, but that might have been a discussion we had in a thread about it. It might've been about a year ago that I saw it. There may have been a long 'cracker' on it too... you know, the long tube type shaped packages that you pull the ends to open it? For some reason the color teal keeps popping up in my head, but I don't know that it was actually teal, so please don't put too much stock in that. It was the style that struck me so the color is not quick to 'recall' in my mind. But it was all different sizes, and they weren't made to look like differently wrapped presents, it was all done in the same color, with the same color bows, all monochromatic. Ugh, why is this so hard!?!?! icon_mad.gif

hahahahahaha..."there may have been a long 'cracker' on it too..." hahahahahaha

okay, I was born and raised in Georgia and quite often called a cracker....that comment caught me off guard and my first thought was, "what the heck is a cracker doing on the top????" hahahahahahahahaha

GI you're right, that is gorgeous! The worst part is the thought that maybe I saw it somewhere else and this is a wild goose chase, but I'm 99% sure I saw it here. icon_rolleyes.gif

I recall seeing an enormous cake similar to that which you described...but it was all off-white and there were pillow shaped cakes involved...of various shapes and sizes.

Seems like I remember that, wasn't it made for a contest or perhaps a huge company function?
