I didnât notice it until I looked at the picture.
To tell you the truth it doesnât look as bad as it does in the pic but that doesnât change the fact that it is leaning.
And its just the top tier and its not so much leaning as it is just slanted giving the illusion that is it leaning, does that make sense?
I cut all my straws the exact same length so it has to just be how the top tier is constructed.
What can I do, the cake is completely finished, doweled and everything.
I think I would cause more damage taking it apart, and even after I took it apart I don't know what I would do.
Any suggestions?

Did you use regular straws? Those should not be used as they can bend and warp. Either wooden or plastic dowels.

bama, lots of folks here use regular drinking straws. They are much stronger than you would imagine.

yourstrulytx, I have no advice for you, other than to say that the cake is lovely & the lean is not very noticeable. If you feel it is stable for transportation I would leave it alone as I agree that trying to disassemble it would be a disaster.

The straws I use are'nt the bubble tea straws but they are bigger then regular straws, about the size of McDonalds straws.
I've been staring at the cake since I posted and its only noticeable once you notice it if that makes any sense. And its stable, so I think I'm going to leave it alone. Now the question is do I even mention it to the customer? Or just wait and see if they notice it?

I would say nothing. Barely noticable to us, chances are the client won't notice it at all. We see everything, they don't. At least, that's what I have been told. I still have a hard time believing they can't see the stupid errors on my cakes...icon_smile.gif

Hey, I think it's an optical illusion. Look at the brown stripe on the bottom of the top tier--see how it is not snucked up to the bottom of the tier evenly?? See how it pulls away from the cake there as it winds over to the left??

See how there's less lip showing on the top of the bottom tier from one side to the other?

Optical illusion. It's straight.

Sorry, everyone, but if you've got the time to take that top tier off and fix it, I certainly would. Generally a lean left alone will just get worse. That top tier looks really tall. Is there internal support like a cardboard in there?

Seriously, is it really leaning? I thought it was the wavy lines.

Your cake is beautiful! I bet you no one, but you, will notice this. I was staring at it, and it doesn't look like it's leaning to me. I love your design!

I agree, it is an optical illusion. I actually started to tilt my head with the wavy lines-LOL. But it is a beautiful design!

it almost looks like maybe it's the BOTTOM tier that is not level, it looks like its kinda slanted on top and that's causing the top cake to lean?????????????

Oh gosh! I see it now! It's leaning terribly!

Nope, it's straight again!

Did you check it with a level?

My eyes are blurring, just reading this, and going back to the photo of the cake each time!

Love the cake though, very pretty!

In my opinion, it looks like the picture isn't straight..if you look at the base of the cake board, that's what looks slanted to me?

Your cake is awesome! And honestly, if you hadn't told me that it was leaning, I never would have noticed. That's the beauty of horizontal stripes.. they help to camouflage things like that. Really love the cake!!!

It is just the picture, I took a few minutes and straightened the base out in photoshop.

Ok yall are right, it was just the picture.
The cake itself is fine, I just freaked a little when I saw the picture, but after staring at the cake for hours I'm positive its a illusion/crooked picture.
The customer loved it and I even got a few hugs from her.

And thank you leahs, you can use it although its not really an original design of mine. The customer sent me pic and asked me to change a few things and thats what I came up with.
I like it too, I wish it could have been bigger though, I think it would look good as a 3-4 tier cake.
I don't know who the orginal creator is though, she found the pic in a magazine and it did'nt have who the cake was made by.
