I've been asked to baked 40 cupcakes with a Halloween theme. How much should I charge per cupcake?

TIA

Depending on where you are at and they type of design.....what type of design are you doing? Is the icing BC?

I am just a hobby cake decorator, so my prices are pretty low compared to some of the other locals.
I charge $1.10 for buttercream and $1.45 for fondant. I also have mini cupcakes and I do filled cupcakes.

I'm in Texas and the icing will be buttercream. I was thinking of putting little jack o lanterns on top of each cupcake.
TIA

My cupcake with basic BC w/swirls start at $1.25 with a small fondant accent. If the Jack-o-lantern is fondant I would quote her $1.75. If the Jack-o-lantern is BC then $1.50.

Or if I did the plastic ones I would charge her the $1.25 basic price with the price of the plastic figure.

I'm a hobby baker as well. But I charge more for cupcakes because it takes more time...and I try to make each one identical.....

I agree that decorated cupcakes are like cut-out cookies ... they take WAY more time than a regular cake and drop cookies (respectively).

I hate, hate, HATE doing decorated cupcakes. Since they are about the same serving size as a standard piece of cake, I charge the same price .... $3 each. If folks don't want to pay that, then that makes me VERY happy!

pricing for cupcakes confused me as well... I wasn't sure how much to charge... I have just recently started baking for money... so I went over to the bakery where I work and they were a dozen for 5.00! I changed my mind about making them but luckily the woman who wants them knows the difference between mass production and home-made.

Are these filled cupcake with custom designs? Or are they plain cupcakes with a swirl of icing on top?

They were chocolate cupcakes with swirls and sprinkles. Is that an agreeable price? For scratch or box?
