I have a question about pricing character cupcakes. I have someone wanting me to make about 50 cupcakes with three different character faces. The mother was thinking maybe a $1:00 for each one. I just do cakes and I usually don't do cupcakes so I am clueless as how to charge for these. These are for a friend of my niece. If anyone has an idea on the price, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank-you very much.

Legalities aside, it takes TIME to hand-model character faces (or pipe them, whatever you prefer). 50 figures is lots of modelling!

Yup yup.. i agree with nowherenearchurch.. around my area.. for a cupcake with simple baby booties.. the price can go up to as high as $8 or $9 per cupcake!!! I'm not sure what the prices are like around your area but i think $1 may be too little considering the cost of the raw ingredients you need to make the character faces and the fact that the modelling may take you quite a bit of time to do considering it's for 50 cupcakes!

I'd have to say you're in the $7.50 each and up neighborhood.

I'm sure the mom does want them for $1 each. ::giggle-snort::

I charge 2.00 for my plain iced cupcakes and sure would charge about 7.00 each for one with a fondant figure on it. However, don't forget the matter of licensed figures being illegal to replicate. I don't think I would want to take the chance of getting fined and no it is not an urban myth.
